Have you gotten a COVID vaccine?

My brother is 77. He did not get the shot before contacting Covid. He was fine at first but his symptoms quickly worsened. Within two days, he is now on a respirator and has kidney failure. It's not looking good. He lives in Texas. Not sure why he wasn't able to get vaccinated before all this happened.
So sorry to read this, ThistleMae.'s Wishing your brother well and a recovery.

Got my first shot today!! Pfizer. I feel like this is the first step back to normal! I realize there are a lot more things that have to happen before we can get back to normal, but every journey starts with that first step!

There's still time. I've heard it's a delayed reaction.😏
There are things called vampire prime numbers, and apparently the transition doesn't occur until you hit one of those numbers in hours since the second vaccination.

The problem is, there are many vampire prime numbers so it's impossible to predict the time the transition will occur for any particular individual.

Also, the vampires are not aware of the transition. They just wonder why people are looking at them weird.

After planning to drive an hour, the county opened up 3 sites with daily slots for at least the next week. I was able to go 10 minutes from my school and scheduled my 2nd Pfizer dose in 3 weeks.

Knock on wood, minimal side effects this round. The shot was not at all painful and I took Tylenol right afterwards. My shoulder was slightly sore yesterday and today.

About 20 mintes after the shot, my face got a weird, slightly tight, tingly feeling but it went away within minutes. It felt like when you put on a facial cleanser that tightens as it dries. My breathing never felt different. I took a nap tonight but can't guarantee that was related.

My brother had his 1st Moderna and had a really sore arm. He didn't take meds so not sure if that may have helped.

Seems from people I’ve talked to, if you’re over 50 there seems to be NO, or at most mild, side effects. Under 40, you get hit by a truck. 40-50 goes either way. Most of those I know under 40 got Moderna, everyone I know over 50 got Pfizer. Just personal observation 🙂. Managed to sign a handful of family up that were over 65, just waiting for more slots to be announced so I can get 2 signed up who are under 65 but with co-morbidities (and by “under 65”, I mean like 63 and 64 😣)

I posted a few days ago but here's an update.

Maine, where I live and teach, announced yesterday an age-based approach to vaccinations. They've been vaccinating those age 70+ for a little while now and will be opening it up to 60+ Monday. Career and high-risk conditions do not come into play. Many, many, many teachers are very upset with this. I'm a 30-something year old teacher and wouldn't be eligible until June. I am beyond thankful that I was quick and able to get a vaccine through Walgreens before this change on the state level. When Walgreens started on Tuesday, you could sign up as 70+, healthcare workers, essential worker or high-risk. I was able to get an appointment for the next day (essential and high risk based on their criteria - obesity) and received Pfizer. Wednesday, Walgreen's criteria changed (at least in Maine) and removed essential workers. Even while standing at the pharmacy counter, I wasn't sure it was going to happen. I had specially selected an appointment at the end of the day to help up my chances just incase.

I've been teaching hybrid all year and soon my high school students will be able to start 4 days a week. They start the week I get my second shot. As an added bonus, I will be fully vaccinated for my trip to Disney in April!

DH is over 50 and got hit by a truck twice. It just ran over my foot and knocked me over.

My dad who turned 67 today got his 1st moderna shot on Thursday and he is saying that his only side effect is a sore arm. Today, it was so sore that he can't even move it. Hope it goes away soon for him.
I got Covid arm a little over a week after my vax. It lasted about a week...was swollen, red, itchy, sore and warm to touch. I used Tylenol, Benadryl and hydrocortisone cream.

Nope. And got an e-mail today that my medical group is suspending taking appointments for those who need their first vaccination since they have no vaccine to give. The number of members in the first tier exceeds the amount of vaccine they can hope to get for a while.
