Have you ever...

I'm not sure I'd donate plasmafor money, but I would consider donating.

You actually do donate the plasma... the centers compensate you for the time the process takes (2-4 hrs depending) so it's not like I'm selling my body parts, just getting paid for some quiet time like PPs have said. :)

If you have to sell plasma (or anything else that comes from your body) in order to have vacation money, perhaps you should be rethinking your priorities.

I really don't see the problem. If a person was "selling" plasma for food, but taking a WDW trip, ok that's a problem. But for a little extra spending money, whats the big deal?

I wouldn't personally do it, but I don't have a problem with it.

I have donated blood for blood drives but then the stupid blood people call me all the time, bugging me to donate again. Next time, I may give them a fake phone number!:rotfl:

Better to sell plasma than to charge it! Just my opinion.:goodvibes

Oh, I don't have a problem with the money. :goodvibes Call it compensation, or whatever. I just don't think I'd get the warm, fuzzy feeling I get when doing a good deed, if there were money involved. Maybe I'd do it and donate the money. That'd work. ;)

I asked if anyone considered using plasma donation for EXTRA vacation money... But see, we can afford it without me doing this, I just like the idea of being able to contribute as much as possible without relying on DH's better job to pay for it all (my job pays for childcare, preschool, and misc expenses that pop up - Christmas gifts, birthdays, etc). If I can find little extra ways of saving/earning money, then I will. It forces me not to be materialistic and really look at things in perspective.

In addition to the plasma donation I intend to recycle our aluminum cans (that have been steadily accumulating in our garage for the past year, I plan to have garage sales (at least 2). I'm going to save $30 from each paycheck (by next year I'll have ~$700 saved up from just that - and that's almost 1/2 of our total trip budget)

I've thrown around the idea of getting a 2nd job for 8-10/hrs a week for extra cash, and again, with the holidays coming up, it'll be a good thing. PLUS if I get a job now, when school is out for the summer I can always increase my hours being already trained vs. applying against all the college kids coming home for the summer.

Both DH and I have full time jobs but taking a trip like this does hit the budget. That's why I'm planning now. I've got a whole year to save and I'd love nothing more than be able to do this using alternative methods than just dipping into our income. Plus, I'll be able to help out others in need. It's not like I'm donating to pay my bills.

OP:
Don't worry about snide remarks on why you are doing it. I do all kinds of things to save extra money for our vacation. From making videos reviews on Expo TV. To looking at emails on mypoints for giftcards. This is just extra money for whatever. If you want to donate plasma go for it. You are not selling it you are being paid for you time. An extra couple hundred a month for a year could really add up.

I'd say your priorities are right on:thumbsup2
