Have you ever...

The plasma industry pays for my trip to disney every year! I am a medical supervisor and an assistant manager for a center in Louisiana. Donating plasma to pay for a trip is a great idea. You are saving people's lives and making money for your time. At the very least you will make $55.00 a person per week, and if you and your spouse both do it that is a minimum of $110.00 a week...$440.00 a month:thumbsup2. You can make all this money by just donating a few hours a week. Most importantly you are saving lives. People with immune disorders (the boy in the bubble), burn patients and so many other purposes. Thanks for all of you donors out there!!!!:goodvibes If you want to know more about donating go to talecrisplasma.com:littleangel:[/url]

HA! I wish DH would jump in and do this with me, but he, like other PPs have said, he's petrified of needles! :scared1:

Like I stated before, I gave blood for the first time last week and I really wish it was something that I had started a LONG time ago. I was a little tired, but hell, if I can help someone, it's worth it.

All of this came to me today while thinking about my grandma. She had to have valve replacement open heart surgery this morning and she was a bit of an inspiration. The surgery went near perfect :worship: and she's been sleeping most of today. They had her off all of the machines except the ventilator by 5 pm. That's the last news I heard. I don' t know if she had to have any transfusions or anything, I just know she was on the bypass machines (I can only assume she needed some help).

Thanks for all of your responses so far, including the LCD/TV one... sadly, my girlfriend (who lives out of state) who is coming with my family next year said the same thing... only she seriously thought I'd asked my husband to sell our television. :rotfl2: That's why she's coming with us.

I did this in college and have some scars to prove it!

I wouldn't do it now, only because the nearest plasma center is 20 miles away through some hefty traffic AND I don't have anyone to watch my kids while I do it. So, it would not be possible or economical to donate.

Did you scar up from the process, if you don't mind me prying??? I'm very fortunate to have a donation center about 2 mi from my house.

I think this will be an interesting journey. I talked to my student about it and she wants to start donating too. Does anyone happen to know if kids who are blind by genetic defect can donate?

Since this is a general question, I'm going to move it over to the community board.

Plasma paid for my car payment regularly. I don't think I could donate any more because I have high blood pressure but I really enjoyed it. As a mom, having an hour to lie down and read or watch TV (albiet with a needle in your arm) was a treat! Paid AND making a difference!

I did this in college for extra money. I also particpated in psychological tests and I was a favorite of a local company that made sunscreen. They would put patches of sunscreen on my back and have me sit under a sun lamp. I burned through everything. Sometimes I would have to sit in a hot tub too, to test whether it was waterproof. In 1985 - I got $100's of dollars for this. It was easy money and I did my part for the fair skinned people of the world!

also I really did call after seeing this and the nearest donation center to us would pay me $60 per donation but I could only donate every 8 wks because the lack of need for my blood type (O+)

Interesting. I would totally do that once the baby is born and stuff!! I'd like the hour to just sit. I have O- blood, isn't that the universal donor one?

My niece is looking for ways to make extra money while in college.

Is it based on weight? I just called and they said the first time is $15 and after that it is based on weight.

Well heck, if it is based on weight, I could afford a deluxe! :lmao:

Am I the only one who doesn't get the LCD joke??:confused3

It's a crack on LCD vs. Plasma televisions... the PP didn't want the plasma since his LCD TV worked just fine!

I'd do it for $60 but not quite sure its worth my time for $15.
I would do it if they need it (is there really a shortage of plasma - I've never looked into it) but if they're paying, I want more. :rotfl2: $60 pays for half my massage on the next DCL. $15 would get me squat. :rotfl2:

NP, I honestly had a friend who thought I was going to pawn my TV for our trip, but the post on here was all in good fun!

I just hope that people may be inspired to give through the crazy thought in my head!

I'm not sure I'd donate plasmafor money, but I would consider donating.

I do give blood when I can, but unfortunately my blood pressure is often too low for me to donate.
