Have you ever run across someone you know who is a DVC member and you didn't know it?

A funny thing happened last night. I was at a Church meeting and I had taken along one of my Disney travel mugs with coffee. Well the leader of the meeting noticed my cup and made a comment about WDW and then said xxx (xxx was in the meeting also and I've known this person a long time) is just about as big a Disney fan as you are. We got to talking and I made the comment that the only way we could go was because we owned a timeshare down there. Well the other person said "we own one also" and then said it was a Disney timeshare. I said you mean DVC and she said yes. She had points at SSR and had just done an add-on at BLT. What a small world. We could not believe that we had known each other for several years and had been in weekly meetings numerous times and neither knew the other belonged to DVC?

It's happened to me, not once, not twice, but THREE times! I was meeting a new faculty member at my school and she commented that she'd traded out timeshare points for a cruise. I said "Oh, we own a timeshare and you can do that with ours. What timeshare do you own?" She replied "Disney"!!! OMG!! She's an owner at OKW and SSR.

Then, we had a new couple join the church I got to know the woman. She commented that they like to go to Disneyworld and that they own a timeshare there. !! They're owners at BWV like us!

Someone else in my church said "You should talk to so-and-so, she goes to Disney all the time. You two would get along!" So one Sunday, I struck up a conversation with her and she's an owner at OKW and regularly trades points out for cruises.

I had it happen in the course of my work. I am a Realtor and I was showing a house to my clients. It just so happened that I also knew the people who were selling the home. While showing the home, I noticed the DVC coasters on the tables and one of the OKW watercolor prints. I talked to the sellers later and sure enough, they owned at OKW and I didn't even know it.

My wife had it happen at work as well. Another co-worker in her department came to work with the DVC canvas tote bag one day. Of course my wife noticed right away (she has 2) so asked her co-worker if they owned as well, and they did.

Hearing all these stories makes me so jealous. I've only met another DVCer around here once. I think we're probably the only DVCers within about 250 miles of here. That's probably why I hang out on the boards here so much-hardly anyone I know goes to Disney, is Disney-obsessed, let alone belongs to DVC.

I take alot of teasing (friendly) at work about or Disney Vacations. One day phone rings at home and its 1 of the Dispatchers Ive worked with for a few years and he tells me his girlfriend (of over a year) is a owner and he had no idea! Now its DVC this and DVC that....

I am a RI'er and I run into that all the time...work, neighbors, parents of the kids from my son's school....it is crazy. RI is such a small state, where I swear everyone knows some who knows you....it is only natural that DVCers are just taking over...

This is why DH wears his DVC hat. We found some local members last year at our school carnival.

Plus I found someone from my town on the DIS too!

My DH was at work one day talking to a co-worker and it came out that she and her husband were DVC members also. She mentioned owning points at OKW and how many she owned (which by the way was more than us). My DH introduced me to her at the Christmas party and we started talking (about DVC of course). Needless to say, we added on shortly after that wonderful Christmas party. So I guess I can thank her for helping me to convince DH that more points were definitely needed.

Yes. We joined last June and since then I've discovered 2 families at church and 1 at work. One of the church families I discovered by looking at an old Disneyfiles magazine and their picture was in it. At first I just noticed that the town listed under their picture was nearby, and then I looked at thought, "oh my gosh, I know them!"

the other day, the lady who works our local walmart vision center.....I was wearing a disney hat, told one of the people working we were going to Disney on Broadway, and she said that the other lady was a disney nut...turns out she owns at BWV....

The family of a girl that my DD dances with just bought into AKV. We have known them for about 4 years now and they are on their first DVC vacation right now .

YES! I was at a neighbor's house for Bunco one night and found out that 2 of the women I had been in the group with had become members right under my nose! I had been to neighborhood parties with them and always knew they went to Disney, but just didn't think to ask about DVC!

So today, I am working, I am a police officer, and we are getting a snowstorm..icy, slushy, bad roads...so i respond to an accident...guy has a sorcererer mickey on his antennae...he was ok, so i asked him if he likes disney...turns out he owns 150 points at VWL....small world....

I love hearing stories like all of these, because it is a small world!

My son plays on a baseball travel team. So, we've spent tons of time with the parents, as we practice and play several times a week mid-season. One of the dads came strolling in with his red DVC hat. My husband and I just about died! We found out that they own at SSR as well, but have been using their points for cruises. We had a good laugh, and got to share great stories and memories from our DVC trips. They kept telling us that we HAVE to take a cruise. So...maybe summer of 2010? Not sure yet.

Also, I work for a large insurance company. I had on my DVC watch, and someone noticed it and asked if we were members. It was a quick conversation, but he and his wife were members, too!

Lastly, we joined because my BIL/SIL are DVC members. I think we've surpassed them in our love for WDW, though!

I work at an animal hospital and our regular clients know if I'm gone I'm at WDW. One of our clients is a Disser with BWV points and another is also a BWV owner!
Some clients call before their own Disney trips for some info/advice.
