Have You Ever Experienced a "Bad" Cruise? Really?

I think you are both right. That is why I always pay close attention to the specific thing the reviewers cites as unsatisfying, and I also ask myself if I feel the reviewer had reasonable expectations (IMO) going in.

For example, if I read a hotel review and they say they hated the hotel, and then cite a little wear and tear to the curtains or the hallway rug as the reason (I have seen this happen repeatedly on Expedia, etc., I'm not exaggerating), I can be pretty sure that, for me, I won't mind this hotel. B!

I'm laughing b/c I booked an overnight at a local resort in the Phoenix area via groupon today, a great value, but I did price check against other deals for it online. In doing so, I saw 2 recent reviews of it on tripadvisor that were 1 star. Why? Because the pool water was too warm. In Phoenix. In July. Um, ok. Did they expect employees to dump ice in it regularly to combat the 110 degree temps? Some people have unreasonable expectations, that's for sure!

Back to the original question, I haven't had a bad cruise. Bad fits, in a couple of cases, but nothing too awful.

Can honestly say that we also have had no "bad" cruises either. We didn't like one cruise, not because it was bad, just not our kind of style.

I remember another cruise and after the cruise was over, I overheard someone say it was their worst cruise ever. It was one of our best (at that time before Disney) and I was scratching my head. How could that be? The lady went on to say she lived near ocean front property where she lived and the beaches were far better than any on the cruise's ports-of-call we went. We went to St Thomas. Have you seen Megan's Bay? I think she was expecting way too much. On that cruise we added an extra day at sea for poor weather on the cruise line's private island. She was not happy about that either.

Some people just want to complain like the OP said on the first page.
