Have you ever been hospitalized for exhaustion?

I saw a headline about Demi Moore being hospitalized for exhaustion. I have never heard of anyone in real life being in the hospital for exhaustion, but so many younger actresses or actors in their prime are hospitalized for it. In her case, I have to wonder if that really is code for anorexia. In other cases, maybe it's really depression or drug abuse, but those people never seem shy about admitting drug abuse. Does anyone outside of Hollywood ever end up spending time in the hospital because they're "exhausted"?

no, never been in the hospital for exhaustion. I figured that with Demi's story, she took some caffeine pills and/or too many caffeine energy drinks which then affected her heart. But who knows. I am glad that I can live my lifes ups and downs privately. I don't envy any of those celebrity people.

Or code for not eating. She clearly hasn't been taking care of herself.

Lots of people get stressed and upset during a breakup, don't eat, lose weight. They don't end up in hospitals and rehab. Sounds a lot more like coke to me than not taking care of herself. I've never heard of 'exhaustion' actually being anything close to exhaustion except 'exhausted from being up all hours drinking and doing whatever drugs.'

How many of us could be hospitalized for exhaustion and stress and not get worse worrying about paying the co-pays?

I know two people who were hospitalized for 'exhaustion'. In both cases, they were middle-aged men who were workaholics, didn't sleep well, and ended up having anxiety attacks. They both were in the hospital only a couple of days, were given thorough medical exams, and were put on medication for anxiety/depression.

I suspect it's actually more common than most people think. I think, like a lot of mental illnesses, it's generally swept under the table and only talked about with close family and friends.

It must have hurt to have a second marriage fail, even though it wasn't her fault. I am sure seeing him move on and date a woman his own age doesn't help, but if its true, neither does dating another man of 26. At her age she can't help but loose out on such a relationship as soon as the man wants to start a family then the relationship will fail.

I do know someone who should have. She was going through alot of personal stuff and the stress was taking its toll on her. I don't begrudge anyone who feels a hospital stay is what they need to help them through whatever they are going through.

I can say that her 'hospitalization' is not from stress but from prescription meds.

"Celebrity Exhaustion" usually means they haven't been eating but HAVE been drinking/drugging, either or, or both.

Notice few real life people go to the hospital for exhaustion and frankly there are times they don't have time to eat, or eat well, and am running from AM to PM and back for a week or so at a time. Yet....not hospitilized for exhaustion.

You would think if anyone would be hospitalized for exhaustion it would be a parent with a newborn and a couple of toddlers who has to get up, get them to daycare, get to work, pick them up again, come home and clean the house, feed the family, blahblahblah.

Yet, no. It always seems to be the people with money to burn and have plenty of live in house help.

Go figure.

Between the co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles, it would end up being a pretty expensive hospital stay for me and not very relaxing. But hopefully these exhaustion stays help the celebrities wise up and realize that they've got to change their ways before something really bad happens.

My paper said that paramedics were called to her home, so it was something dramatic going on...

Hello 911? Please come and get me...I'm exhausted!

Most of the time it is code for some acute manifestation of clinical depression; aka "nervous breakdown".

Very often someone calls 911 because they fear a heart attack is happening, but it turns out to be an acute anxiety attack. No physician wants to be the one to let a celebrity die of a coronary on his/her watch, so they always end up admitting them for "exhaustion" when the entire point is CYA and avoidance of the press. Agents often push for the hospitalization in order to keep the famous person contained for awhile; lest they end up with another Britney Spears' head-shaving on their hands.

The least restful place for me would be in a hospital. I'd have to have more than "exhaustion" going on for me to subject myself to staying in a hospital.

Now a spa....I could check into something like that and let myself be pampered!

I generally don't think hospitals are very restful either... but after 19 months of a baby that refuses to nurse lying down (or sleep more than 2 hours at a time) I think the interruptions in a hospital might be better. Someone please hospitalize me for exhaustion.
