Have you ever been hospitalized for exhaustion?

Nope, I'm not rich enough for that diagnosis!

It's a code word to keep the actual drug use/nervous breakdown/drunken binge explanation out of the papers-but since everyone pretty much knows that by now they might as well just tell the truth.

Didn't Mariah Carey have exhaustion a while back and it was actually a "mental breakdown" kind of thing?

I worked with someone once who was hospitalized for exhaustion, but in her case I can completely understand why she was exhausted (extremely busy at work.)

It must have hurt to have a second marriage fail, even though it wasn't her fault. I am sure seeing him move on and date a woman his own age doesn't help, but if its true, neither does dating another man of 26. At her age she can't help but loose out on such a relationship as soon as the man wants to start a family then the relationship will fail.

Third, I think.

However, not everyone is a cad. I don't exactly think Kutcher was having dalliances with hottubs full of strippers because he wants to have more kids.

Yes, I was.

Twice in high school.

It was just out-patient stays in the ER though. Nothing overnight.

The first time I was sent home from school because I was covered head to toe in hives and fainted in the hallway.

The second time I was brought to the ER in the middle of the night because I couldn't breathe without intense pain in my tummy. The doctors had me tested for a stomach ulcer (at 17!) and sent me home with something to help me relax and sleep for a couple of days.

I was a stressed out kid!

Yes, it's 3.

Freddy Moore
Bruce Willis
Ashton Kutcher

I can say that her 'hospitalization' is not from stress but from prescription meds.

Not sure how you know that for certain, but if so it is especially good that she is hospitalized. It seems like the list of celebs who have died from inadvertent complications from mixing meds is pretty long.

Having survived preemie twins who didn't sleep for 4 months (while taking care of a 2 year old at the same time) I can tell you what TRUE exhaustion feels like. And no, I was not hospitalized for it. I truly and honestly believe it's Hollywood-speak for either an overdose, a manic episode or some other emergent situation that required immediate medical intervention.

They were saying something on the radio that there's talk that it has something to do with prescription drugs. I've never been hospitalized for exhaustion but I suppose it could happen. I don't know how you can rest in a hospital though. They like to wake you up to give you a sleeping pill there and people coming in and out of your room all the time. I think "exhaustion" is code word for drug/alcohol problem or eating disorder in Hollywood.

Ok, yeah, I guess I was. I was a primary caregiver 24/7 for a beloved family member who died just weeks before I gave birth to my first child. Between 3 years of taking care of someone who was dying and then taking care of a newborn who was sick, didn't sleep.... and I was doing this 100% on my own, I collapsed one day. I was rushed to the hospital (I don't remember much) and apparently awoke almost 24 hours later. I had been having bad chest pains and trouble breathing (that much I do remember). The ER docs checked me out and deemed me simply exhausted. It was a 1 day stay, but I guess you can say that I was hospitalized with exhaustion. :guilty:

But a full day of sleep made me feel SO much better.

The least restful place for me would be in a hospital. I'd have to have more than "exhaustion" going on for me to subject myself to staying in a hospital.

Now a spa....I could check into something like that and let myself be pampered!

exactly. i hate it when people say - "put us in the hospital, i need some rest"! really?! it isn't the four seasons, folks - it is the hospital. Someone will be in at least every 1-2 hours to check on you and you WILL be woken up every 4 hours for vital signs. Promise you won't sleep better here, but whatever...

Techincally yes. It was a combination of exhaustion/dehydration. But I have so many medical problems to begin with, that I am very susceptible to these things. It usually happens just from pushing myself too hard and not drinking enough.

The last time was because I tried to push myself through an illness (it was midterms) and my body just finally gave up. I couldn't stay awake, I couldn't eat anything, and I couldn't drink anything. All I could do was sleep. My mom took me to my internist and I slept the entire 2 hour drive there and I was falling asleep while in the office and she said that I just really LOOKED sick. My blood pressure was low, I was having severe PVCs, and my heart rate was all over the place. I didn't feel sick...I just felt exhausted. I was in the hospital for 4 days getting rehydrated and IV nutrition while I slept. I spent another 4 days home resting before going back to school. I felt about 100x better when I got out of the hospital. But I've gotten much better about not pushing myself too hard but thats difficult as a college student.

But for me, it works when needed (It's happened about 3 times in the past 8 years). I wouldn't say hospitals are relaxing, but I do actually get a lot of sleep. I can sleep through pretty much anything (IVs, blood draws, etc)

I really assumed coke or coke+booze. I admit I am completely surprised by the reports that she was doing whip-its. How old are you? For goodness sake, woman. Whip-its? Really? How... Ashton Kutcher of you.

I think I'd be somewhat surprised he was that cheap/low rent, but not surprised surprised, if he was doing it, which I now suppose he does because... the idea it originated with her is too nuts and if she'd been doing this for 20 years she'd be unable to work at all at this point.

I had to google whip its. Wow. Sounds like she has some serious addiction issues that are longstanding. I wish her well, I always liked her.
