Yesterday, I ordered pizza for dinner. Before I went to pick it up, I went to a nearby grocery store for a salad mix to go with the pizza, and a few other items. One of those items was 2 quarts of Pierre’s raspberry sherbet. I mean, it was dark pink in the container, so I assumed it was raspberry, so, being in a hurry, I quickly grabbed the tubs from the frozen foods shelf, and checked out. Tonight, I thought, that sherbet would sure taste good!IMG_2207.jpeg As I’m scooping it into the bowl, I see what I thought was vanilla ice cream mixed in the center of the tub (none of this was visible from the outside of the container). It was at this time I read the lid of the container, and read Cherry Lemon Sherbet! I decided since I was stuck with it, I’d go ahead and give it a try. I didn’t care for it, but learned my lesson, that you can’t go by the color of a product, take the time to actually read the packaging! 🙄

I actually wouldn’t mind an accidental sherbert…

I was looking for a quick heat and eat dinner. Browsed thru the refrigerated case with all the Jack Daniels BBQ beef, chicken, pulled pork, the Hormel beef tips, all fully cooked, just microwave them. They had a new brand, with a big sign "locally made". I tried it. It was beef, but it was raw. I caught that as I read the preparation instructions. Only took about 10 minutes in a skillet, but I could have just put it in the microwave for 2 minutes and been surprised.
I just looked that product up on my grocery store website. Guess what, they are all now FULLY cooked! I am gathering I was not the first to be surprised that it was not cooked.

Found this for free at the garbage grocery store....had children all over the package.... still looking for an adult who would enjoy 😜 😜

My 90 YO Dad told me today he bought 5 lbs of powdered sugar instead of cane sugar! I haven't baked a cake or made frosting in at least 30 years...

We ended up with low carb ice cream. It didn’t taste good. I really don’t like foods with sugar substitutes. We gave it to my parents to eat.

I once accidentally bought onion dip instead of plain sour cream. Both were the same brand and right next to each other on the supermarket refrigerated shelf.

I suppose it wouldn’t make much of a difference on a baked potato, but I intended to make a cheesecake.

I have learned to read labels carefully. Sometimes the words "sugar free" are very tiny on the label.

I've learned by accident that "sugar free" and "no sugar added" can mean something different with different companies.

When Mott's applesauce says "no sugar added" they really mean it. No sugar or sugar substitutes added. When I buy a 6 cup pack, one cup may be nice and sweet. But the next cup came from a different batch and it's rather sour. 😵‍💫 They don't put in extra sugar to regulate the taste. So, whatever apples went into making that batch is what you get. But, I'd rather not have the extra sugar.

I thought it would be the same for other canned fruit when I saw labels for "sugar free" canned peaches. Nope, they mean they don't use sugar, but will use a nasty tasting sugar sweetener added to the liquid the peaches are canned with. :crazy2:
