Have you been surprised by a DVC resort?

We own at KV and absolutely love it! We love the quietness of it love the pool and hot tub. We have 3 nights at BLT and initially was excited but now may try to go home. People say it is away from everything. It is close to 3 parks. It takes not very much time to get to AK, Epcot is maybe 10 min. I Am sure it takes more time from the Flo to get to Epcot than from KV same thing with HS.

Our first DVC stay ever was at OKW and I nearly cried several times that week. We didn't like it at all. The walk to the main pool was horrendous and that's where DS wanted to go (it was August so we were DRENCHED WITH SWEAT walking back to our unit). The buses were awful, awful, awful. (Waited for 1 hour one day for a bus to the MK for the Princess & Pirate party.) The unit had several items that needed to be repaired (bedspreads had holes, freezer door broken off, threadbare carpet and the unit was dirty). There were no paper plates or anything either and I had to call & ask for those. Have not had a desire to go back yet.... It was NOT a good first impression. We had bought SSR sight unseen so we were REALLLY 2nd guessing our decision to buy DVC at that point...

I love this phrase! It perfectly describes AKV. I hope you don't mind, I plan on stealing it for use when discussing AKV with my family who just don't "get it".


--- Kidani surprised me. I had anticipated a more sprawled out, mini version of Jambo with fewer amenities. Boy was I wrong, it has a personality all of it's own. I liked Jambo a lot, but Kidani just feels like home.

--- BLT was a surprise to me too. We stayed there 2 nights just to try it. I had planned on hating it. Yes, I actually planned on it. Turned out I really, really liked it. It's not relaxing like VWL or AKV, but it has the rhythm of the monorail passing by, the pools below and the excitement of the contemporary right next door.

So far, I have stayed at SSR, BWV, VWL, VB and will stay at BCV in less than two months! I've like them all for different reasons. Though we haven't stayed at BCV, we have stayed at Yacht Club three times previous to owning DVC so we know the area very well.

SSR we like the proximity to DTD and it is a lovely resort. VWL is a spectacular resort, I like the decor and the boatride to MK. BWV, the resort is just ok, but the boardwalk area is now one of our favorite areas. Vero Beach is a great resort, if you've never been there, GO! BCV I'll report later but I know I like the area!

Haven't stayed at OKW yet, like the looks of the room layouts. AKL either but I do like the photos of the rooms I've seen, the decor looks beautiful. BLT doesn't really interest me that much, doesn't look like it has the feel I look for in a resort. The proximity to MK isn't a big deal to me, the monorail though does catch my eye!
