Have to call to renew Gold/Sorcerer DVC renewal?

Agree with @kes601. Other than the Pixie Pass, (available to Florida residents only), there are currently no annual passes available for purchase. When they were available, there were no discounts for anyone for the Incredipass. The Sorcerers pass was available only to Florida residents and DVC members who qualified for ME. The Socerer's pass was/is its own category of annual pass. The price was/is the price - no discounts.

At one time (pre-Covid closures), DVC Members did get a discount on Platinum and annual passes (most comparable to the Incredipass). This went away when Disney revised the annual pass program after the resort/park closures.

Those who currently have any active annual pass may renew to any level of annual pass during their renewal window. There is a small discount for pass renewals (compared to the price to purchase new).

Only the Pixie Pass is available to purchase new.

I don't recall getting a special discount for renewing as a DVC member.
My renewal price was cheaper than a new AP. And I could get a Gold pass s DVC.

I think that some people refer to the Sorcerer pass as a discount when in fact it’s a special pass that is less expensive.

I consider the Sorcerer pass a discounted pass because it’s less than the Incredi pass. I get that it’s technically not but without it, I’d pay more.

The renewal prices is cheaper than new, which is also what people sometimes refer to as being discounted..less expensive.

But, in the past, DVC owners had not only the special pass but also a discount on The highest level pass, which was eliminated with the Incredi pass.

The ability to buy a Sorcerer pass as a DVC member seems like a discount if you're not already a Florida resident. It's MUCH cheaper than the IncrediPass. Of course it only works if you can handle the blockout dates. Technically it's not a "discount" they are just making a cheaper pass available to DVC members who are not Florida residents.

DVC members who are Florida residents appear to be currently offered nothing pass-wise over what is already available to them.

A renewal pass does come with a "discount" over a new pass, but that's not a DVC only thing.

used to be that the Platinum pass came with a slight discount if you were DVC but that is not a thing anymore.

Right now nobody can buy a new pass, with the single exception of the Pixie Dust pass, which is available only to Florida residents and allows visits on weekdays (except major holiday periods)

Thanks, everyone. Sorcerer Pass renewed with a not-too-long call to MS. We don't have as many trips planned for the next year, but I'm not ready to give up the AP yet.

I guess a renewal for $815 is not terrible; I just wish they would start selling AP’s again.

There seems to be info out there we could get some level of update early July. But, it may not look the same as it always has.

When a pass is renewed is it automatically activated? Or does the one year start the first time you use the renewed pass?

Renewals are active the day your current expires. No stringing out to later unfortunately.

Thank you!.. I have never renewed… just bought APs when we knew with the amount of trips planned it would be beneficial… ours don’t expire until next April so we will have to see what plans we have at that point

Only online renewals are automatically activated. Phone renewals (only option for DVC) still require you to stop at either a Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Location to activate. As already noted, the renewal will continue your existing pass for 1 calendar year regardless of when you actually activate the renewal.

and do we know if they're allowing folks to renew earlier than the 60 days prior? We expire in mid October and last year when we renewed I was allowed to renew in April but I wasn't sure now..

and do I call the AP ticket line or the DVC line??

Thanks!

They are no longer allowing early renewals. DVC members must call MS to renew.

I had a new/different experience this year re: renewals & expiration.

My most recent (DVC) AP was set to expire May 7, 2022, and I didn’t renew until May 14th- my new expiration is May 13, 2023 (renewed as a FL RES AP- via AP passholder phone line after online checkout failed). So, had I waited the full 30 days of the renewal grace period, I think it would have extended my expiration date by an entire month. Maybe it was a fluke. Maybe it will happen again. I plan to test it out when I renew my husband’s pass in July (it expires in June). 🤓

Lucky you! My renewal that they just did for me early…because they messed up using a ticket in March, is good from March 2023 to March 2024….so I didn’t get extra.

Not complaining but it would be great if my DD gets extra time on her renewal as we bought the certificate Last summer and she hasn’t been able to activate it yet…her old one expired in October! Lol

Thanks! ☺️

I’ve never received extra days when renewing with a certificate- except when they messed up & accidentally removed my Covid-closure extension… in other words, my pass had been extended (like everyone else’s) bc of Covid, yet when I activated my renewal certificate last May, the system deducted months from the expiry as soon as I tapped into a park. It was bizarre! I didn’t notice it had happened until after I was back home again. It took a few calls, but they finally got it straightened out! However, instead of putting my exact expiry date back to where it should be been, they went from the day I tapped in (which was a few days after it had expired).

I’m just on a streak of eeking a few extra days each year right now 😂😂

I believe the expiration on the renewal represents the value of the "certificate" vs a new extended expiration date. When I renewed our Gold APs to Sorcerer's, I was just over 30 days from expiration (July 2). The expiration in MDE for the Sorcerer's pass is 6/1/2023. The CM advised me to ignore that date. I fully expect when we activate these passes the expiration will be 7/2/2023.

I want to keep an eye on this expiration date issue. I'm not sure I want to renew if it's exactly 1 year from our 7/16 expiration but I definitely would if it's end of July or later due to our vacation plans for next year.

Have you used that new AP yet? Are you sure that May 13, 2023 is the AP expiration date and not the expiration of the renewal voucher?
