Have to call to renew Gold/Sorcerer DVC renewal?

I want to keep an eye on this expiration date issue. I'm not sure I want to renew if it's exactly 1 year from our 7/16 expiration but I definitely would if it's end of July or later due to our vacation plans for next year.
Our next trip isn't for several months. With new Sorcerer APs not currently being offered, we were okay renewing. Normally, we do not travel to WDW in the summer; we ended up with the extended expiration due to the closure and not canceling our Gold APs when reimbursement was offered.

Have you used that new AP yet? Are you sure that May 13, 2023 is the AP expiration date and not the expiration of the renewal voucher?
Yes, I have (May 18th was my first day to use it). & Yes, I’m positive 🤓😉

(But to complicate things further- I do have a renewal voucher also tied to my account which expires 12/31/2030, or 2099, depending on where I’m looking- MDE app or website... but my active AP expires next May 13th.)

I believe the expiration on the renewal represents the value of the "certificate" vs a new extended expiration date. When I renewed our Gold APs to Sorcerer's, I was just over 30 days from expiration (July 2). The expiration in MDE for the Sorcerer's pass is 6/1/2023. The CM advised me to ignore that date. I fully expect when we activate these passes the expiration will be 7/2/2023.
That would be new- and very welcome! In the past, it has always been one year from the previous expiration … no matter what. There were times that it was months past my expiration that I would finally get to go back & the renewal certificate would be waiting on my account (with a far away expiration- like 2030)… but the second I would tap into a park, my expiration would be exactly one year later than it previously was. However, if a lot of people (like myself!) are experiencing later expiration dates after renewal, then there might have been a policy change (or a loophole- which will be shut down 🤪).

Time will tell if we can bank on this or not. 🤓

Cool! Now I’m sorry we didn’t wait to renew ours. Maybe when we activate in July we’ll get an extension too. If not, oh well!

Lucky you! My renewal that they just did for me early…because they messed up using a ticket in March, is good from March 2023 to March 2024….so I didn’t get extra.

Not complaining but it would be great if my DD gets extra time on her renewal as we bought the certificate Last summer and she hasn’t been able to activate it yet…her old one expired in October! Lol
YMMV, but when we activated our "certificates" in 2019, they were activated on the date we went into guest services to activate-the original exp. was months before. We had the Gold AP but at renewal last year and they changed the expiration from 9/12/23 to 10/10/23 and of course we were switched to Sorcerer pass with free MM but we will need to pay for MM when we renew this year.

I didn't ask for the date changes but was told both times, "it was on Mickey".

Epcot guest services is the best. We did have issue with Military tickets because the person had been put on active duty and could not use his tickets but they gave him the value of the tickets when he came home and he was also told the difference in price was "on Mickey".

I suppose we have just been fortunate to get great cast members.

I must of got the CM at Epcot on a day when Mickey was off!! LOL Congrats to you!!

Any updates about the expiration date? It? I have 2 more days to decide to renew and I only want to if I get the extra month.

Are you able to renew a spouse's GOLD pass at the same time you renew your own? Wondering if my DH will have to be on the line with me when I call to renew.

I’ve been able to do both as long as I knew his MDE information to log in!

Thanks. He doesn't have an MDE account. I do everything for the two of us via my account. Guess I'll find out If that matters in a few days. :)

They don’t appear to be giving any extra time as the new renewals seem to be the actual ticket, already activated, with the dates that show continuous.

I've always been able to renew DH's AP when I call. The CM can see his DVC membership, apparently, and can also see that he has an existing DVC AP and is eligible to renew. Most years I call and renew both at once, but this year we renewed a month apart for budget reasons. No problem.
