Have 527 Days Until Our Vacation, But I Need Some Disney Magic Now!*22 DAYS TO GO!!!!

When we were planning our 2008 trip, Passporter was trying to clean out their "old inventory", so on their website, they ran a special for their 2006 edition at $1/each... So I purchased my max limit of 5, and DH purchased his max limit of 5... Everyone who had any interest in a Disney trip got one for Christmas that year... I still have one of those left. Then, I think it was last year, they were trying to clean house again, and I got a deal on the 2007 version - it wasn't as good of a deal as the 2006 - I wanna say they were $5 each, or something like that... but I think I got 2 of those.

Actually, just for the fun of it - I just went to the Passporter website, and they have the 2010 spiral bound edition on sale for $1/each right now... So, run over there and get yourself a few. I just purchased a couple, so I can have a somewhat-up-to-date edition to read up on... Shipping was a lot more expensive than the books though...

Honestly, I have never read the Unofficial Disney guide - which I should probably read sometime - but I really like the format of the Passporter, and even though mine are out of date - they still have really good info in them.

Shipping is TOO expensive IMO. Over $10 for priority? Apparently they know nothing of the flat rate shipping. :sad2: I'll just check local bookstores and see if they have them marked down. I'm not paying $12 for the Passporter. :lmao:

Unfortunatly knowing bookstores probably not. It's been over 10 years but the marked down books arrived like that in the stores and the books that were being marked down or taken off the shelves are sent back to manufacturer. The sad thing is that most paperbacks are sent back with only the cover (bar code is on inside cover of most paperbacks) and the rest of the book is thrown in the dumpster. So sad to see all those wasted books.:guilty:

I believe the travel books were sent back whole, but than it would be thier decision to what to do with them.:confused3 But I agree with you on the shipping, at the end of the day I only payed a few extra bucks for a brand new book for 2012. (No shipping cost with the free month of Amazon Prime with the Kindle Fire:worship:)

I did the USPS book rate option... And including the 5 books I ordered... It was $18.79 - which is cheaper than ONE book... and for that price, I give one to both of my girls and they fill out their portion of the book as a keep sake... the rest I give as gifts. Personally, I thought it was a great deal for a great book.

We have some discount bookstores that ONLY keep older books in stock. :thumbsup2 I got a 2007 edition of UG for our 2009 trip for like $5.

And I know most of the local stores will try to clear out inventory before dumping the books. Most yearly editions will go on clearance -- they get more money offering 50% off than they do dumping them. But yes, at the beginning of the year, they're gone from the regular stores. :sad2:

I think the biggest deal when getting the $1 PPs is if you order in bulk. Then the cost of each book is much cheaper. :thumbsup2 But I have no one to gift books to. No one around here loves Disney like I do. :lmao:

You know ... I may do the $1 PP at the end of next year ... and get one for everyone going on the 2013 trip! :thumbsup2

You totally got a great deal!!!

However, for just one book, it was over $10 for Media and over $12 for Priority. Which isn't a great deal for me. :sad2:

If I was ordering in bulk like you, it would be an awesome deal! But I don't have anyone to gift the books to, like you do.

I bought my kids a Birnbaum last year, they've yet to look at it! They flipped through it and then tossed it in the back. :sad2:

Your cost of book was less than $4 per book, mine was over $10 ... so you can see how different of a deal we got. :rotfl2: But I think I'll totally do it next year, and gift to all the girls going on the Adult trip on 2013. :goodvibes

If I was buying 5 it would be a great deal, but right now I can only think of 2 or three I can get. Or maybe 4. One for me, my DD, my friend, and her DD. And maybe one for my DS's father. So maybe I do have 5. :lmao: My problem right now is Paypal. My account is frozen right now because they wanted to verify my liscense and SS# which scares me. But since that happened I got a new Credit Card (lost old one) and maybe changing the Credit Card will fix my problem.:goodvibes

So you might be wondering why I would buy one for my DS's father. Well long story short. My eldest son Liam hasn't seen his father since he was 5 months old (sad right) well he finally got his act together and came out to visit him for a couple of days right before Christmas. I still don't totally trust him (a lot of bad water to cross) but it is my hopes that in the next year and a half that Liam will spend the week I am at WDW with his father. There was even talk of him taking him to WDW with us. That might upset my DD a little, but they can go and do their own thing while we do ours.:goodvibes

I know the books with years on them will come out every year, but I have my eyes set on some books that came out in 2009 the last time. So I'm really hoping that those books will come out in new editions soon. I already have the Unofficial guide for 2012.

What books are you looking it? I love all the Disney books and would get everyone if I could. I got the e-version of 102 facts and photos about Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom and Epcot for my kindle fire because it was only about 3 books. Unfortunalty it was also very short and took about 10 minutes to read.:sad2:

I hope the books you want come out with a new edition some time this next year.:thumbsup2

I would like an updated
"The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World: Over 600 Secrets of the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom

The Imagineering Field Guide to Magic Kingdom

The Unofficial Guide Walt Disney World for Grown-Ups

That book looks like a lot of fun, but a doubt we will have time to search for hidden Mickeys since it's our first trip and we are only staying for 5 nights / 5 park days.

Ok I wanted to a little bit of an update, but part of it non-disney related and part of it is disney related. (though like most of you everything in my life seems to be disney related at least a little.:lmao:) So I decided to seperate them into two posts so I can seperate them into my Table of Contents.:confused3

So the first update is about Christmas. We all had a great Christmas this year. Just a little bit of an idea : Went to two diffrent places on Christmas Eve, my mom came over for Christmas, and we still have to see my dad next Sat for Christmas with him. The kids all got lots of gifts and I got a Kindle Fire, so we were all very happy.

Here are a couple of pics.

Here is Aidan with his Lightning McQueen bank.
See what I mean about Disney sneaking into everyday life.:lmao:

014.jpg

Here is Mia opening some of her presents, she loves Fancy Nancy.
Notice the Princess wrapping. I wrapped all the kids presents in diffrent paper. Mia had Princess, Liam had Phineas and Ferb, and Aidan had Cars. What can I say, we love Disney!!!:yay::yay:

018-1.jpg

Here is Liam showing off some of his hoard.
Notice the Phineas and Ferb PJ's.

045.jpg

I had to enclude this picture. Aidan "barrowed" my camera later and took some pics of his baby brother Rylan in his crib. Doesn't look to happy does he.:lmao:

004.jpg

This was taken a few days before Christmas when Liam's dad was in town. Here is a picture of the two of them with Mia trying to sneak in. :rotfl2:

That's it for this post, will be back soon with the more Disney related post.:thumbsup2

if there is kids going, it keeps them busy when they are waiting in lines..

We got the Hidden Mickey one this year and it was a lot of fun reading about them. We only really looked for them a little bit at Disney, but it was excieting when we found them. He also has a web site where you can see pics of a lot of the hidden Mickey's. Some are a little bit of streach of the imagination.:confused3

Yea you probably will not have a lot of time to be searching for hard to find ones, but there are some that are very easy to find and it is exciting to find. My favorite is when you go through the ball room at the haunted mansion one of the plate settings form the head and ears of our favorite mouse. :thumbsup2

I am sure that one will have an update sometime in 2013 with all the new Hidden Mickey's to find when the FL expansion is open.:thumbsup2

So as I promised, here is the second part of the update that I promised. This one is definatly more Disney related.:thumbsup2

Those who have joined me in my other PTR knows that there is a Disney Outlet in the mall by myself and I usually find myself there every time I visit. Well today was no exception. But lucky me because there was a sale going on and I was in seventh heaven.:cloud9:

051.jpg

No I didn't get the book at the Disney Store, but the book I ordered did arrive today. I can't wait to break it's spine. :rotfl:

052.jpg

I couldn't pass these ornaments up. I have been eyeing them for a while, but at $20 I couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money on ornaments. $7 was much easier to handle.

054.jpg

I buy the kids a new ornament every year, so this year I got some ornaments for next year a little early. A Finn McMissle for Aidan and a Perry the Platapus for Liam. And at $3 for each ornament I couldn't pass them up.;)

055.jpg

I looovve tinkerbell, and these slippers will be so comfortable on my feet.

056.jpg

These Tink key chains were only $4 so I couldn't pass up buying on for me and Mia.

057.jpg

Liam showed this to me, and I must admite it will be the perfect book to plan all of our WDW adventures.:thumbsup2

059.jpg

And you can never have to many Mickey PJ's, right?:lmao:

060.jpg

This last one wasn't purchase today, but it was a Christmas present from the mom who might come with us. Does she know me or what?:lmao: And it is a two year calander so it's for 2012 and 2013. Yea!!!!

So what do you all think of my haul?
Now I just have to be more careful going to the Disney Store, or I will not have any money for the trip.:rotfl2:
