We are here now for a 2-day trip. DS(7) really wanted to see the Hatbox Ghost. It was a disappointment, as it's not working. The CM said it hasn't been working for 3 days now, and he didn't know when it would be fixed. Just an FYI in case you were planning a trip to come see it.

We also had Matterhorn break down when we were about 5th in line. Luckily, they fixed it in about 5 minutes (even though they announced it would take about 20 minutes to fix). The new yeti effects were cool.

The boulder wasn't working in Indy, but that might be hit and miss throughout the day.

On a positive note, we were upgraded to a suite at GCH! That has never happened to us before. It's awesome...very roomy compared to a standard room, and a nice theme park view.

We still have Blue Bayou and F! To look forward to tonight. Will report back.

That's a bummer, but way to go on getting a suite at GCH! That's awesome! Have fun!

Where is the Hatbox Ghost found in HM? I'm sure that's somewhere on another thread...just being lazy!

We were there May 19-24. Haunted Mansion stopped 3 times while we were on it. DD is 11 and terrified of that ride. We got stuck directly in front of the hatbox ghost for a long time. OK, it was probably 3-4 minutes but felt like forever. I think she's scarred for life. Anyway, we went to WDW last year and Haunted Mansion broke down while we were on that one too. DD is taking it as a sign she should never go on that ride . Peter Pan stopped while we were on it too. Rides seem to be breaking down a lot.

They took the first one out because it wasn't working. You'd think after all these years they would be able to figure it out! I hope this isn't history repeating itself and he vanishes again after only a few weeks!

Sometimes the slow loading rides have to stop to make concession for wheelchair/DAS accessibility. So it may have been that as well.

It doesn't actually break down that often. Because of the nature of the ride, they often have to stop the buggies for DAS accessibility. And I just now realized the person above me said the same thing. Oops. Anyway, it's not that it's breaking down. Though the HBG malfunctioning is a different story. That completely stinks. I'm sure it will be in working order at some point soon though. Can't imagine Disney letting that one slide when it's currently one of the only new ride-related changes being marketed this summer.

I just signed into Facebook and saw a friend's photo of the Hatbox Ghost (she is at Disneyland today).

ETA: It looks like she posted the photo 10 hours ago (so earlier this morning). I am waiting for her to tell me if the Ghost was working when she saw him...

Sometimes, someone's lunch needs to be addressed. :faint: lol or toiety tissue issues. Or ....... something was dropped....or some kind of shenanigans is taking place that must be addressed. Or.....or.....lol

I've seen them have to do an emergency stop a few times on the HM because people take their time loading into the Doom Buggies or aren't paying attention. It's frustrating to watch.

I was there last week and rode HM 4 times. The Hat Box Ghost was working then but the ride stopped 3 out of the 4 times we were on it. We sat there for quite awhile.

We went last night and it wasn't working. It still looks cool, but now he's just a happy ghost carrying around a hatbox.

Yes. And the hat in his box is for his long lost love Constance. The hat is the latest rage in haute couture in Paris.

Was the actual hatbox ghost always there or was he just not working I don't know the history of it?

He was there, but there were no effects. He just stood there and smiled...his hatbox never lit up.

The effect isn't timed for every buggy. You may have just passed him at a bad time. Was the laugh effect playing?

There was no laugh. We also watched after we passed, and nothing happened for any of the cars behind us.

Hey now! That's no stinking effect. That is his genuine maniacal laugh!

;)
