Has your local Disney Store closed? YES or WHEN

I'm also from Twin Cities area of MN and the Rosedale store closed as well about a year ago - they claimed it was due to mall leasing conflicts. As far as I know MOA store is the only one still open in MN.

Oh no, the South Hills Village store is closing down! Such a shame. But then they haven't sold anything I wanted to buy in quite some time. Still a shame. They have some of the earlier character figures decorating the store from before they went to cheap cardboard cutouts.

Our 3 stores in San Antonio are still open. Went to one Good Friday, but it wasn't well-stocked and they had a sale going. Just bought Brother Bear and Alice in Wonderland DVD's.

The one at Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton, CA has been closed for quite some time now. :(

However, the one in Richmond, CA seems to still be alive and well. :D

In Massachusetts we had 3 Disney stores that I know of close down for "renovation" but they all reopened sometime before this
past Christmas. The salesperson did tell me that the stores were sold from Disney ownership. They are definately not the caliber that they used to be...almost like a cheap t-shirt shop...very dissapointing.

The Indianapolis area used to have three Disney Stores that I am aware of -

Lafayette Square Mall - Closed quite a while
Castleton Square Mall - Still open
Circle Center Mall (downtown) - Still open

My in-laws live in northwest Indiana and the Disney Store at the closest mall to them, Southlake/Westfield Mall, is still open.

Well- they announced today that our store in Montgomery, Alabama is closing TOMORROW!!! One day's notice! Anyway, my mother is going to Montgomery today to buy all of our tickets- and anything else she sees at a good price! I am so bummed!!! Guess it'll be online and the catalog for me from now on!!!:(

BTW- the employees at this store told us two weeks ago that they had been told they'd be there at least until February- when the lease ran up. Oh well! I hate it for them too- some of them had been there a LONG time and thought their job was OK for at least 9 more months!

Oh well, my mother went to the Disney Store today in hopes of a sale and to buy WDW tickets for our upcoming trip. No luck either way. CMs told her as soon as they decided to close the store 2 weeks ago, they made them send back all their theme park tickets. I don't understand this. And she said that managers from other stores- the nearest being 2 1/2 hours away- were coming tomorrow night to box up the merchandise and take it to their stores. No sales of any kind! That stinks! Now I either have to drive 2 1/2 hours or buy my tickets on line before I go to get the advanced purchase price!

On Columbus and 62nd in NYC (where Regis and Kelly is taped) and they closed 1/15/04. My 3YO DD was devastated. We have one left in NYC. Bummer.

The Disney Store at the Bangor Mall in Bangor, Maine closed just after this past Christmas season. It's too bad...and the store had just opened just before the holidays in 1998. Fortunate for me I did get to take advantage of some clearance sales before everything was TOO picked over. The sales surprised me...I really didn't expect that...I had assumed that their inventory would be shipped to other stores.

Wow, I feel fortunate in that the 2 DS I know about are still open--Rockford CherryVale Mall and Chicago Woodfield. I'm going to the Chicago one for the first time in over a year next month, so will see what type of merchandise is stocked there.
the Rockford store is mainly pre-teen merchandise .....no specialty or high-end collector items anymore. Mostly plush and knick-knacks. I still like to stroll through.

Are you from the Rockford area? I'm still looking for another DISer who lives out here.

I can't believe I sifted through 7 pages of other Disney store closings and didn't come across mine (didn't want to write a duplicate). That is SAD! The one in Vernon Hills, IL (northern suburbs of Chicago) closed I would say in late Feb. I have yet to check out the Northbrook, IL or Skokie (Old Orchard), IL stores - haven't ventured that far out lately.

The North Hills Mall Location in Hurst has definitely been closed for about 5 months now.:(

The Parks Mall at Arlington and Hulen Mall TDS were still open last time I checked, but I havent been to those in a few months.

I had no idea about the store until I went there to purchase the tickets for our trip in March, my dd was so upset she is 4, she just didn't understand it. We met someone on our trip from Canada who is a manager for a Disney Store up there and he told us that the Disney Store wasn't selling the larger more expensive items, and weren't making what they thought they should have, and decided to close a lot of the stores... I really don't know about the accuracy of this but that is what he told us.

Bellevue Square, Bellevue, Washington is gone.

They'd messed around with this store so many times - it was closed a few years ago for a few months and re-opened as Disney Home store  pure crud! They had changed back to the old format in recent years.

But it's all gone now, I found out yesterday. I called the one at Alderwood Mall earlier today - they're still open. He said Belle square had decided not to re-new it's lease.

Our closest disney store is CLOSED:( :( :( . We just made the trip over to Bellevue Washington this weekend... it is close to a 3 hour drive....just to find an empty space in the mall. I was sooo disapointed. The last time we were there which was just a couple months ago it was there and nothing was mentioned of it closing any time soon. I had been planning on making the trip over the whole month of April for an appointment we had. I had my list of to buys and to look for all ready....my DD wanted so bad to get one of the princess swimsuits and I really wanted to check out there beach bags.

I even checked the Disney store web site a couple weeks ago to find others in the area....I knew there was one in downtown Seattle years ago...but had been gone for a few years now, and since we did more shopping at Bel Square I never bothered to see if the one downtown was just relocated. Anyway when I checked the Disney Store site on line it still had the store at Bel Square listed....If I only knew it wasn't really there we could have tryed the other two locations in the Seattle area.

I was SOOOO bummed.:(

Oh!! I didn't notice the post just befor mine...reguarding the Bel Square store closing. I am still so upset about missing the store on our resent trip I didn't even read the other posts until I finished my 2 cents worth.

Good thing we are making the trip again in a couple week...that way I can check out the Alderwood store. I also think Southcenter has one also.

5th Ave Store in NYC closes next week, I think May 10th. It will reopen in November as a World of Disney park store. This will be pretty exciting.........
