Has your local Disney Store closed? YES or WHEN

Good thing we are making the trip again in a couple week...that way I can check out the Alderwood store. I also think Southcenter has one also.

Southcenter closed a few years ago, the only ones left in the Seattle area are Alderwood and Northgate.

I can't believe I sifted through 7 pages of other Disney store closings and didn't come across mine (didn't want to write a duplicate). That is SAD! The one in Vernon Hills, IL (northern suburbs of Chicago) closed I would say in late Feb. I have yet to check out the Northbrook, IL or Skokie (Old Orchard), IL stores - haven't ventured that far out lately.

Northbrook Court has been closed for about 3 years now. Hawthorn's (Vernon Hills) last day of business was March 23... exactly 11 years after we opened. Old Orchard is still open, as is Golf Mill and Woodfield (and a few others in Chi area)

Our store in Hattiesburg, MS closed about 2 years ago. Our numbers were always good, but they still closed us down :( . I now call my sister in Atlanta when I need D$$$. THere really isn't a store near here anymore.

This post has been going on a long time now.
I see a trend and it does not look good.
It would be interesting to see a map with all the cities that had there store closed.
I know it would be interesting but scary at the same time.

The one in Glen Burnie, Maryland (Marley Station Mall) will be closing on May 25th...a couple weeks from now. :( There are others in my area though.

Sadly we lost quite a few Disney Stores in Massachusetts within the around 2002-2003:

Cape Cod: closed permanently

Kingston, MA (the store where I let my husband!): closed permanently

Faneuil Hall (Boston), MA: closed permanently

Watertown, MA: closed permanently

Cambridge, MA : closed permanently

Natick, Ma (this had been a combo gallery and TDS): closed permanently

I had worked on opening teams for Kingston, Natick, Watertown, and Cambridge 1995-1996, so it was really sad and odd to see these stores close so quickly.

My store in Monroe, LA closed Spring of 2003. From what I heard almost all of them in Louisiana closed down. I think there are only 2 or 3 locations around the Baton rouge, New Orleans area.

It seems like they are closing down as their lease is running out at each mall.

Sounds like Disney may have decided selling stuff through other stores (WalMart, Target) may be a better way to go. They either want to get the number of stores down low enough to make them easier to sell or are just going to close them up.

The one in NYC is going to be a World of Disney store. Prehaps Disney will just operate a handful of stores as World of Disney.
