Has your local Disney Store closed? YES or WHEN

Where are the 2 Disney stores in Wisconsin ?

I know there's still one at Southridge

I used to visit the Disney store evrytime I went to Penn, in OKlahoma City. I do not go to Penn at all now. I think all the Time Warner stores may have closed.

The Quall went to mostly young children merchandise for a while. I went several times with nothing purchased. They do have a few more adult items now.

Remember when you could buy snow globes, dishes, watches, ect at the Disney Stores.

I save my $$$ for the Florida Outlets now.

The Disney Store at the Danbury Fair Mall in Danbury, CT closed in June 2003.

What's amusing (or sad, as I’ll mention in a moment) is that the "Disney-esque" shelving and fixtures are still in the space, and the retailer that took it over (a very tacky "new-age-crystals-and-mysticism" type place) didn't really change them or the color theme.

So what one ends up seeing when you walk by is strange; it still looks like a generic Disney store, albeit one that's been taken over by a cheap traveling carnival. From a "branding strategy" point of view, I'm amazed that Disney is allowing that sort of thing to go on.

:(

I read that the DS in Fashion mall in Vegas closed.

Sure sounds like Disney is letting most of the leases just expire. Guess there isn't a willing buyer for the stores. I guess they think the can make more $ selling merchandise to Wal Mart, Target etc.

Sounds like they may be going back to having just a few showcase stores in the major malls.

Disney store in Dayton Mall, has been closed for awhile. There still is one in the Mall at Fairfield Commons, I called about a month ago to check, and was told there was.

Yep! Warner Bros. closed too. Both my reasons for going to that Penn Square are gone, except now I work there from time to time (Tupperware kiosk). I'm nervous about the one at Quail Springs and the one in Tulsa. I'm really looking forward to shopping at DTD later this year, but hate that I can't get a dose of the "magic" without an hour's drive to get there.

Store in Youngstown Ohio. Eastwood Mall scheduled to close
3-21-04.
Luckly we still have a store close by to get our disney fix. (30 min away)

Don't know if anyone else has posted about this or not, but store in Hickory, NC was closed on 2/27. We had a heavy snow the day before, but every ither store in the mall was open, yet Disney Stpre was locked. There was no sign or anything, so I am trying not to hyperventilate and assume that it was closed for weather. I looked thru the windows and it appeared no stock had been moved and nothing was out of order.

Cedar Rapids closed 3/17/03

Iowa City closed in May 03 due to the mall forcing them out for an Ann Taylor store.

And, as posted Des Moines closed Jan 04.

I heard a rumor that Sept is when all the stores will close.
I had heard the end of March before.

It would be interesting to know from Omaha where the next closest store is.

My guess is Minneapolis, unless the one in Mall of America closed.

I was just looking for a place to post this and found this thread.

TDS in Erie PA will be closing March 16th :(
Was there yesterday and they just heard the news.
They let the lease run out.
I feel bad for the CM's. They were got off gaurd. Really had no idea about this. A few more hard working people on the long unemployment line.

Sometime before the Super Bowl, the Disney Store closed in the Houston Intercontinental Airport.....

Too bad....I used to always pick my DD something up there when I was changing planes.....

I have a friend that told me TDS in Charleston, SC has now closed. I am not living there at the moment, so I cannot confirm this. It was in Northwoods Mall. She was not sure when it closed, she went to pre-purchase her park hoppers for a trip in May.

I believe that the two stores in the Kansas City area (Overland Park, KS and Independence, MO) would be the closest stores to Omaha.

There used to be 2 stores in Wichita, Kansas. About a year ago they closed the west-side location, but the east-side location is still open.
