my daughters 4th birthday is approaching and her grandmother suggested it as I wanted something that was fun and learning. I thought it could come in handy for the flight too!!! it's quite expensive and I don't want my mum to waste her money if its no good.
TIA

My DD has the standard Leapster (which I think is pretty much the same as the L-Max except you cant plug it in the TV) and the Vsmile Pocket. She is a bit old for it now (just turned 7 and heavily into her Nintendo DS!) but my 4 year old DS loves them.

Out of the two, they both prefer the Vsmile Pocket - the games they say, are more "fun" (although still educational). It probably gets used twice as much as the Leapster does.

I will say though, I think the screen quality is better on the Leapster & there is a bigger range of games for a wider age group.
