Hi all,

Going to POR in December and did some reading about Disney's spas.

Has anyone ever used them? Are they any good? Expensive?

I could use a good massage :smooth: :smooth:

Thanks

I have been to both the spas at WDW, once at GF and many times at DI. My experience was much better at the DI spa, more professional, more comfortable facility and consistently great treatments. I think their prices are right in line with spas here at home. A spa treatment adds a wonderful luxurious aspect to a vacation....well worth the time and money if at all possible!!

Last year my DH and I both did spa treatments at the DI Spa. We loved it, the CM's were friendly and the spa itself was beautiful. We will definitely do it again. I got a French Body Polish..and a french manicure. My DH got a massage. We also were able to use the suanas and such. I suggest trying it....it was so worth it.:Pinkbounc

Okay, this is second hand, but the source is my lovely wife, so it has to be accurate.

Every time we are at WDW, my dd (age 17 now) and I spend the entire time on our feet , zooming from place to place, having a blast. My wife, in contrast, does not care to come home from vacation with shin splints, so she always books one day at the spa. We do what we like, and she does what she likes. We meet at the end of the day for a civilized snack and beverage, where we either recover or bask in the comfort of the treatment.

If anyone asks my wife her favorit attraction at WDW, the answer is always, the spa!

I've had the swedish massage at the GF 3 times . I love it, it's so relaxing. Well worth the money.

Any info/details on the couples massage at GF?????? I am thinking of treating DH and myself to this treat.

I have a brochure that offers two spa treatments for couples at the Grand Floridian. The first is a "Grand Romantic Evening".. a couple's escape into total relaxation in our intimate candlelit couple's room. Share your massage experience with your loved one as each of you receive a custom aromatherapy massage using essential oils for the maximum benefit of body, mind and spirit relaxation (50, 80 minutes)

The second is.."Couples Instructional Massage"..Step-by-step instruction in effective massage techniques to relax your body and relieve stress. Educational tips are provided by your therapist. This experience includeds take-home notes and an aromatherapy body oil. (3 hours). Here is the # for more information (407) 824-2332.

I had a day at the GF spa about a year ago...wonderful self-indulgent luxury!!! I loved it.

Just got back from Disney :-). Last year I went to the GF spa for the 1st time, I had been to the DI 3 times and wanted to see what the GF was like. I went back to the DI this year for various reasons (we actually stayed at GF this time and I still went to DI). Hopefully this will help you in your decision.

First of all, the DI has a new spa menu and their prices have gone up, so, while not as expensive as the GF, it's getting closer. If you belong to the DVC, you get a 20% discount, now back to reasons.

The DI spa is the only DISNEY run spa, GF spa is actually run by another company, can't remember who.

I find the DI spa to be so much more relaxing, it's a much larger spa so you aren't as crowded with the other guests, the showers, changing rooms, dressing areas, waiting lounge and bathroom are spread out much farther so you don't feel crowded. When at the GF last year, there didn't seem to me much room to move.

When you check in at the DI, you pay it all up front, tip and everything, so when you're finished, that's it. I like that because when I finish at the spa, I don't want to have to think about paying, tips, etc. The only change is if you purchase product, you do that at the end. And the staff has always been wonderful so I don't mind paying the tip up front. I'm sure if you have a problem, they would refund it.

DI has more of a variety of treatmets. There are things that theGF offers that they don't, i.e. couples massage and "baths" but who wants to pay for a bath when you can get a hydrotub and massage combo.

I feel more pampered at the DI, it seems you get more personalized attention, I talked to a couple of other spa goers while there and they told me they also prefer the DI spa after having tried both.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions, please email me or post here. The treatments I had his time BTW, were the Seaweed Hydrotherapy (highlyrecommend) Seaweed wrap (wonderful) and a reflexology treatment (this is one thing theGF does do better).

Me too!

Thanks for all the info. I have made my choice, I'm going to the DI.

I found your post by doing a search. I plan on going to the DI spa on my upcoming trip. I'm wondering if you (or anyone else) can recommend and/or describe any of their treatments. Was there any therapist that you remembered that stood out?

I've been the GF and found it to be ok. From what I've read the DI spa is more of what I'm looking for in a spa.

Does anyown know what they have for work out facilities?

I know the therapist I had for my hydroseaweed treatment was fatastic, her name was Susan. Not sure if there is more than one, but she was the blonde Susan. She was very professional and did a wonderful job.

Depending on what types of treatments you're looking for I can tell you that there's new Bed of Roses treatment that sounds amazing. I'm thinking of having that done when I go back in Jan. It's a body treatment, exfolating, etc that ends in a massage.

Also, the Seaweed hydrotherapy treatment was wonderful.

I have not always been impressed by the facials I've received. The first one I ever did there was wonderful, but the last one I had was soso. I'm more into massage.

I've found that when you make the appointments, the staff is very helpful. I would call and tell them what you like and then see if they have any recommendations. One thing I'm also going to do is schedule my spa day near the end of my vacation when I know I'm going to need it the most. I'm considering getting a leg treatment that sounds perfect after days of walking the parks. It's so hard to decide. Another thing, if you're a DVC member you get 20% off. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc Hope this helps. I have a brochure that's not handy now, 'll have to find it, but if you have any more specific questions, just let me know and I'll do the best I can to answer them. I'll lookfor the new brochure so it'll be handy :-)

I've done the 'spa thing' at the Grand, AKL and the DI - the Grand's still my favorite, although the DI spa was very nice too. I just find the GF spa more convenient.

Yes, they're expensive ... then again, most spas are! LOL I've had massages, facials, body wraps, treatments .. just about everything! If you're in the mood for a facial too, I suggest the GF deluxe - it is the best facial I've ever had .. and I've had a lot!
