DD and her husband are going in November.
They're not planning on hiring a car as they didn't do very well driving in the US the last time they were there.

Since they're staying on property and will only be doing disney this year, they figure they'll just use disney transportation.

But i was wondering if they might have the option - say when they go to DTD - of occasionally using a taxi.

Has anyone ever used a taxi on property at disney. Just to get around WDW itself?

.

Us!! We don't drive when we go to WDW (even though I keep saying that I will) We normally stick with WDW transportation but occasionally use taxis especially when we've eaten at a resort hotel in the evening. Bell services will call them and prices are very reasonable.

so you can just go up to the bell services desk and ask them to call you a taxi?
that's great.
i was guessing it probably runs about $20 including tip to get most places on property. Is that about right?

Usually have a car but when we haven't we used them to get from hotel to hotel for meals. Saves hours.

It can be more than that if you are going from one end of the property to the other. Taxis are good if you are in a hurry and are not going far. If you have time, don't forget if you are just trying to get to another resort for dinner or such, take the bus to the closest theme park to your hotel, then just wait there at the terminal once you arrive for the hotel that you want to go to.

i was thinking in terms of DTD, if they go out for dinner.
I know there are DTD bus waiting time horror stories.

So i guess they'll need the taxi company phone number to get them to come to DTD to pick them up.

There is a taxi rank at DTD - I am not sure where it is now with the building works but I am sure if you ask a Cm they will send them in right direction

We either drive or take a taxi.. It seems like most taxi rides are roughly $13.00 plus tip.

They also have Uber now as well.

now that you mention it, i think i remember taxis there when i've roamed around looking for a parking space.

thanks!

I only use taxis to go to DTD for VH check in, just go to Bell services and more than likely the taxi will be there immediately as drivers wait in the car park, it probably is the safest way to get a taxi as they don't let any old body into the resorts. get the Mears taxi number from bell services before heading to DTD, but, tbh, if it's a quiet evening I'd take bus as it won't be any quicker by taxi

they'll probably take the bus there, but i think on the way back to the resort, they might want to go by taxi

Thats what we have done jo if say we stay at okw but eat at the poly. That or we would grab the monorail to MK /epcot and get a bus back to our resort from there.
To OP we never drive and have decided next time that our shopping day we are going to save $45 and get the lynx bus No 50 from stand 29 from the TTC MK I think) then get off at seaworld and catch another to premium outlets.
Taxis are expensive especially if all the other parks are being done. One day my boyfriend WILL drive

DD and her husband rented a car in fairbanks alaska, then again in Orlando when they were in the US 2 years ago...
they did much better in fairbanks than the did in orlando..
i think part of the problem is the amount of traffic in orlando...they're simple not used to that much traffic, plus the traffic patterns are much different (different sorts of traffic lights, different left turns, etc etc)..

so even though we drive on the same side as in the US, they still found it very challenging...
