Has anyone used Restaurant.com for a gift?

What did you think? Are there alot of reastaruants to choose from? Does it matter where the people live that I give the certificate too?
How does it work?
I see that 60% off code, and thought I should swipe a Christmas Present or two.
Thank you as always,
Nicole

I used one last year for my DD's teacher. I will use them again this year too! :earsgirl:

I thought about using them for gifts too. The only reason I was hesitant was that they're are restrictions on some (no Saturday night, etc). It's not the typical gift certificate.

I've used it and it was well received. (I did check out restrictions before making my choices). If you buy it with the special discounts they do not show up anywhere so you can give a $25 certificate for less than 10 bucks and nobody will know you bought it so cheaply.

For me, the restaurant choices are somewhat limited (though I'm sure that varies by area) and certain restaurants had serious restrictions (can't be used on certain days, must be for parties of 4 or more).

But the price is great if you're able to select a restaurant without restrictions.

One thing to consider - we bought a gc from them for ourselves. The restaurant said they had quit participating with restaurant.com and the certificate was no good. They eventually decided to let us use it. It's been a few years so I don't remember exactly, but I think they gave us half the value or something like that.

About a week or two later we got an email from restaurant.com letting us know that the certificate was no good. (They offered some kind of replacement but I don't remember the details on that either.) I have no idea how often that happens but I would hate to have it happen to someone I had given the certificate to as a gift.

I just had that happen. The family and I attended a Retirement Party for my dad's cousin and we gave them $50 cash and $100 in restaurant certificates. I just got an email from Restaurant.com letting me know that one of the restaurants no longer participates and advising that they'll replace the certificate. I'm just not sure what to tell the folks we gave it to. Because of this, I've decided never to use them as a gift again. Too many things could go wrong.
