In speaking to my guide I told him that we would be in SSR (our home resort) in September after a May trip to BCV. He told me that he knew of alot of people who have never stayed in their home resort! Are there any DISers who have never stayed in their home resort?

We have never stayed at our home resort (BWV). We like SAB at BCV and can not pool hop to SAB if staying at BWV. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Well, we've only stayed at our home resort once and after that will probably be a never, at least for DH. Second stay was at OKW "just to try it out"-that's it, now DH won't think of staying anywhere else. He's hoping to "own where he stays", so when VWL is paid off, sell, then buy at where he feels like "home"-OKW. So for now, never stay at our home.

Just curious Simba...why sell at all? Other than for a Grand Villa OKW should be pretty available to you...OKW and SSR should be the easiest to get. If you need to rent out your points one year you would have an advantage for people who want to get into the only MK DVC or get in for VWL in Dec.

The other question would be...why wait until payoff? The per point price seems to be around $72 or $75 now for VWL. Seems to me going on your next Disney trip, then sell your contract & buy the cheapest OKW you can get is a way to go. Or there are some on the board who might be willing to outright trade contracts with you. You never know until you ask. Someone once offered me a very good trade for my VWL...however I won't consider changing until I have a chance to get into VWL in December...after I do that I'll be happy to move elsewhere if it means more points.

We've never stayed at our BWV home, but it ain't for lack of trying.

We were scheduled to be there for Labor Day, but Hurricane Frances cancelled that. Then we wanted to reschedule for October 14 - 18 (this weekend!), but an uncooperative waitlist wouldn't let that happen.

As it is now, we won't get to our home until 2006...5 YEARS after our last visit to WDW. (The intervening years include HHI, 2 DCL cruises, DL California, and a Concierge Collection exchange...so it's not all bad.)

I can't wait til we finally get to Boardwalk.

We own at OKW and BCV. Have yet to stay at BCV. We were going to split our stay this past August but family did not want to move. Someday.

My wife and I are just buying into BWV. How hard is it to get your "home" for a vacation?

I also have never stayed at my home resort (VWL & SSR). Every stay has been at OKW.

We always book our annual trip at our home resort BWV. That is our preference. As a matter of fact we just did an add on. We love it there. We stayed at BCV once to see if we wanted to purchase additional points at that resort and didn't like it. We never have had any trouble booking at our home resort. Even if we get wait listed, it usually comes through.

We purchased in 1999 while we were there staying off site. We'll never do that again.

We stayed at Fort Wilderness Logde on a last minute trip and although it was nice, it seemed to out of the way from what we are used to. Like the proximity of being in the middle of MGM and Epcot.

doubletrouble_vb, check your PMs. Just remember, OKW lovers (actually lovers of any resort, it seems) can get pretty fanatical, and DH is truly an OKW lover. The spirit of Richyams' love for OKW lives on!

We own most of our points at Boardwalk and love it there. We also did an add-on at Vero and haven't stayed there yet. My in-laws have which is one of the reasons we bought there. We've given them points to stay there twice and they love it. We have a reservation for 1 one before our 10 day cruise this December and will finally get to check it out.

Hello Everyone,

We own VWL and did a add on at BCV. We have yet to stay at VWL. DH has no desire to stay there. ALthough next Thanksgiving we will book here for our 11 months out, but will try to transfer to BWV (my fave) @ 7 months.

OKW is DH's #1 DVC resort of choice!!

If you are booking before the seven month window opens up to everyone, easy. Some rooms may book up - certain types at BWV (standard view, Boardwalk View, Grand Villas) before the seven month window opens, but for the most part you'll be fine.

Once seven months rolls around, everyone has the same opportunity at all resorts, being an owner won't give you any preference over getting a room or getting a good room.

Usually, its possible to get "something" until around 60 days out. Then things tighten up a lot more, although people have had luck with short notice trips (including extending stays while on site or calling on a lark for this weekend).

Perish the thought!:earseek:

I cannot imagine not staying there!

I've stayed at my homes, but I know someone at work who, up until this year, hadn't stayed at BWV. They are last minute planners and could never get in by the time they got around to booking their dates.

We have two homes, the BWV and BCV. We have stayed many times at the BWV, 3 times at OKW and twice at VB. Our first stay at the BCV will be in 49 days, and we have owned there for over 2 years.

We own at BWV, BCV & VWL. We love BWV, stay @ BCV sometimes for SAB, but our 2nd favorite to BWV is OKW. We've never stayed @ VWL & only my DD, 18 really wants to. EPCOT is our favorite park, so the closeness to MK of VWL doesn't appeal; grew up @ the Jersey Shore, so love BWV, and the laid back atmosphere of OKW is the best!

I'm sure we'll stay @ VWL sometime; it just isn't a priority.

:smooth:

We've only stayed at own "home" one night(VWL) every other time has been at OKW. We love it there.

We have been BWV owners since 2002 and have stayed at BCV in 2003 for SAB, and were at VB in between Charley and Frances this past August.

However, we just booked BWV( 1BR - std) for March and we are very excited to stay there! We bought BWV because we love the EPCOT resorts area, although we probably would have booked BCV again this time(for SAB) if we had enough points.
