The Mai Tai's are OK the standard Capt. Morgan ones, try the Lapu Lapu the ones in the lounge come in a hollowed out pineapple, poolside in plastic cup
This thread reminds me... I have a dumb drink question.
DW and I don't drink very much. A bit of white wine for me and rarely a beer. DW likes those fuzzy navel wine coolers. I'm guessing we'd like to try a drink or two at the Poly. Given that DW likes the fuzzy navel wine cooler (and maybe other fruity stuff too), is there a signature drink there that would likely be a treat?

One of their classics is called the Back Scratcher. It's a fancy drink with rum and fruit juice and stuff, but the best part is you get an actual bamboo backscratcher to take home with you. Something to play with the cats with.
To be honest, the drinks at Rainforest Cafe are better as is the price.
Zipp: If your wife loves those kinds of drinks, one that I will recommend is a Tropical Toucan from RFC. I love those!
As for the Poly, the Mai Tai's are very strong. As were the Lapu Lapu's. Not horrible, but strong. I think I asked my waitress if she could bring me a little glass of orange juice after I had dh take a swig and then diluted mine a bit! There was a drink at the bar near O'Hana that had Malibu rum that was not nearly as strong tasty. I also like to just order a Malibu with pineapple juice. Very yummy.
The Mai Tais at the Polynesian are excellent. Thankfully, they are not the same as others served around property....at least as of last January. Instead they still use the same recipe they have since at least the early 80s.
Just my personal light-weight taste, they are STRONG. I couldn't finish my Lapu Lapu. : ( I didn't even drink half of it sad to say. I started asking for weak drinks after that when I was brave enough to order one.

the one I had on the last night... did not taste strong at all... BUT... it knocked me out. My husband said that my daughter woke up screaming in the middle of the night and he couldnt wake me...we were in the same room! It was wierd cause it was the smaller of all the ones I had all week! He said I was snoring SO LOUD and he tried to do everything to wake me and I wouldn't budge. So either it was an extremly strong one...or disney laced me with something!
I am not a go and get drunk kind a person...so this was WIERD!
