Please reassure me! I have stayed onsite 3 times, twice at WL and once at AKL and loved both resorts. This trip my sister is coming along, and due to her finances we are staying at CBR. CBR looks very nice from pictures but I can't help but feel disappointed. Has anyone stayed at a moderate resort after staying in a deluxe? Did you still like it?

I'm worried about the same thing. We've always stayed at the Floridian but this trip will be at POR due to it being a Magical Gathering.

We had stayed at the Contemporary and the Polynesian before ever staying at the Coronado Springs Resort. Let me put it this way: we are going for our 25th anniversary in September and my DH asked if I wanted to go back to the Poly as a special treat. I told him NO...I wanted to stay at our home away from home, the CSR! I love the CSR and it gives me everything I need without the expense of the deluxes.

Yes, My first trip was to Beach Club and yes it was beautiful but really expensive. My second trip was POR and I loved it!! then I stayed at CSR even better! Next POP ecccch not for me! Next trip is POFQ (but only because no rooms are available at CSR) I actually prefer the mods over the deluxes.. just because the theming is nice in all of them and the extra money saved allows me to take more trips! I have'nt stayed at CBR but from what I hear it is nice but BIG! :)

We loved every minute of our stay at GF. We loved every minute of our stay at POFQ. If I had the choice, I'd stay at FQ again!!

Go knowing which ammenities are available and you will be fine!

POR is so nice! I would pick it over the other mods. We stayed at CBR and visited CSR to see if we would want to stay there, but if we ever go to a mod again, it will be PO (but we might try the FQ side the next time).

We are DVC members, so we usually stay there, but to be honest, we love Pop Century so much that we try to go there once in a while too (I know that is a value), but all the resorts can be fun, and it is great trying out new places.

We are hoping to stay in the cabins at FW sometimes, but I want to do it in the spring when it isn't hot and we can ride bikes around.

Well, I've stayed at the Contemporary, Poly, and WL and loved them all. I've also stayed at POR - that really became our place to book until I booked at OKW a couple of times. Since then I've also stayed at POP. Each level has it's own individuality. I enjoyed POP and will probably stay there next year (taking some small ones down) and the price is easier - plus plenty of kids for playing. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the deluxe but I also loved POR (in fact the $$ were better but they also had a larger variety of food available in their food court (and they have a restaurant if you want to sit down).

:) We are DVC members so usually stay at OKW but we have stayed at many of the deluxe resorts as well. We really like POFQ and stay there when we do an "impromptu" trip. The only thing I don't like about the moderates is not having a balcony. Otherwise, as stated before, go knowing what is included and what is not and I think you will not be disappointed. Have fun!

Hey,
Our first onsite stay was the GF. Shortly after that we stayed at PORFQ and LOVED it. Not as much as the GF of course but it was great for us. Now we have bought DVC so Deluxe for EVER!!!

But, I'm sure you will have fun!! It is Disney!!

Our first WDW trip we stayed at the Poly and we fell in love with it. Last year we stayed at POFQ and I hated it. This year we're at SSR, and I'm hopeful! :goodvibes

We usually stay at the Wilderness Lodge, but last year we had a lot of family going and they wanted to stay somewhere less expensive. So we ended up at CBR. We all loved it. I really liked the food court.

We stayed at the Poly in May 2007...loved it. Then we stayed at POFQ May 2008...and we loved that too. We're trying values for the first time in September and we plan on enjoying that too.

I think it all depends on attitude...go in with a positive 'tude...you're going to have fun with family at Disney!

We have stayed at all of the deluxes except GF, and we totally love all of them. However, last month we tried a moderate (POR) and also loved that one! Let me tell you the main differences we noticed between the moderate and the deluxes. First, the beds are smaller at the moderates -- they are "doubles"! Yikes! Next, no balconies at POR, not sure how the other moderates are. Next, the moderates are pretty spread out and when you walk out of your room, you are outside (no inside corridors). Those were about the biggest differences for us, besides the fact that the moderates had bus-only service (no monorail or walking paths to parks), but you got used to that at AKL.

Now, having given you the sort of "negative" differences, let me tell you that we wouldn't hesitate to stay at POR or another moderate again in the future. We LOVED having a large food court, which the deluxes don't have. So that is a plus for the moderates. Of course, another big plus is the cost. It's nice to save money on the room, but yet the resort is beautiful with good food, so we really felt like we made out pretty good.

We stayed at the Poly 1 time, but it was after already being hooked on the CBR.

So going back to CBR was a easy choice for us.

I'm just the opposite. I am afraid of staying at a deluxe instead of a mod and I'm worried. I love that I just have to walk out my door to get into the quiet pool at the mods. I love that it is spread out. I love the hidden places to sit and relax in the shade.
I'm worried that being under one roof 4-5-or 6 stories up and having to walk in my bathing suit to the pool all the way through the resort :scared: will not be as relaxing for me. I'm sure that I will enjoy the resort. I tend to over analyze things.:rolleyes1
I'm sure you will love your stay at CBR. We stayed there last time. You can check out our pictures of CBR from 06 in the link below. It is a large spread out resort, but it is sooooo relaxing.:thumbsup2

know i'm late but i have to add MHO stayed @ Cont and FW cabins for many years and loved both then stayed @ POFQ and loved it BUT i love POR even more-- this Jan we stayed @ POP because we needed 2 rooms and it was a longer stay so $$ it was a wiser choice and because of the vibrant theme and the fact we had a car so no busses or waiting the experience was delightful-- SO please try it you might like it...we are back @ POR in Sept and could've chosen ANY resort for my girls' weekend with 2 DDs and FREE DINING be well :goodvibes

I usually stay at the Swan or Dolphin. I made a quickie trip to FL in June 2006, and stayed at WDW just 1 night. The Swan/Dolphin were booked, so I stayed at All Star Sports. I was traveling solo, and it was fine for one night, and would've been ok for several nights.

We normally stay deluxe but have done the mods once and just got back from Pop (after our last stay at the GF). We still love the deluxes, but we REALLY liked Pop!! We will NEVER stay at a moderate again (I can't tell the difference between a mod and a value besides the price tag! :thumbsup2 ).

Yes, it is a difference going from a deluxe to a mod (outside opening rooms, smaller beds etc.) I don't think the regular rooms at AKL are too much bigger than the rooms at a mod (most of the extra square footage is eaten up by the bigger beds at AKL). We stayed at POR in 2005 and it was OK, but when we stayed at AKL in 2006, we were so glad to be back at a deluxe again!

If this is a budget trip, I would highly recommend a value over a moderate any day!

We have stayed from a value to concierge at GF.
Truthfully unless you are just a real pool person, I would be just as happy at a value as a moderate.
But that all depends on how much you will be in the room or at the resort.
We stayed at Pop last Saturday night and DH mentioned a few times how much smaller the room was. But for us two adults with little luggage and not much room time, I did not even notice.

We usually stay deluxe, but DH got such a good deal at POFQ, we decided to go for a trip this summer instead of waiting until we could afford the deluxe again. The only thing I think I will miss is the balcony. But, hey, we'll be at WDW, right?!
