Has anyone found a good deal for Sirius Radio lately or have another good option?

My daughter spends a lot of time in her car commuting to college. I've called Sirius and they have a $69.99 radio they'll sell me for $9.99 and service for $30 for the first three months. Is there anything better??

Had XM (Sirius) but husband was laid off at the beginning of the year so now we use our Blackberry to play Pandora in the car. It can't touch XM but it is free.

Quick question: do you need to have a working radio in your car in order for this to work? My DD also has a long commute to college and her factory radio hasn't worked in years - this may be a GREAT gift for her. Let me know. Thanks.

I'm not sure about buying a radio, but I have XM installed in my car. When its time to order service, I consistenly resist the $30 for 3 months offer. I tell them "no thanks" and they usually offer $20 for 5 months. I've done it three times now.

I've also heard of others getting a $77/year deal. I would talk to XM and ask them if they can do any better for a subscription.

i just renewed my husbands sirius radio. they sent a bill for $78 for 5 months i called and told them that this was way too much. They then offered $20 for 5 months. i slightly hesitated they then said i could have it for $15 for 5 months. which i think is a good deal.
as for xm radio i have that in my car and have tried to cancel twice. both times they told me i could have a free 3 month trial. so that has been free for the last 6 months.

I just reactivated our second radio (after more than a year of having it inactive) for $20 for 5 months.

I pay $25 for 6 months. Apparently it was an intro offer from when I first got my car, but every time I call to renew I beg them to give it to me for the $25 and they do!! I'm calling them tonight to renew!

edited to add:
I'm on the phone trying to renew now and they want to charge me $157 for one year

Ditto...DH's work truck has had no radio for about 5 years. Honestly at least once a week I hear how he has nothing to listen to and I know he would love to be able to listen to some games on Sat that come on early. I have been looking online at some of them and I can't figure it out either!

Anyone know???

Come back and let us know how this turned out...I am very interested to hear if you got them down on the price.

We had a free trial with XM radio on the Nissan we bought this fall. We really enjoyed it but I just have a hard time justifying spending that kind of money for radio.

Unfortunately, you would need some sort of working audio in the car, as the Sirius/XM unit needs speakers, etc. to support the device.

However, it doesn't have to be an FM radio, as if you have an in-dash cassette deck, a cheap cassette adaptor will do the trick (and give you much better audio quality).

I did the lifetime plan, several years ago with the following discounts:

The plan, itself was selling for $299, at the time. Using a Target 10% rewards certificate, I purchased $300 worth of XM prepaid cards (for $270). Also redeemed 3 store coupons for $10 off $100 of purchases in the electronics department (bringing the cost down to $240).

Unfortunately, you can no longer do this since Target discountinued the 10%rewards certificates, plus, they no longer sell satellite radio products of any kind.

Best Buy appears to have a Sony replacement radio that is both ipod and satellite ready. HTH

We got a lifetime plan for the radio in my Jetta but still renew yearly for our Stiletto (portable and used w/ a car kit in our Sienna).

Can't remember what we are paying yearly for the Stiletto, but our lifetime plan in the Jetta includes internet access so we can use that log in to listen to Sirius online whenever we want! :thumbsup2

We had XM but got an iPod Shuffle instead. It has saved us a lot of money and we can put what we want on it.
