Has anyone ever stolen your water?

I think my DH has gone off the deep end. I was searching for a bag that was comfy & could hold what i needed. He told me it needed to be big enough for 8 waters. Huh? What was that buddy? He in for a shock bc there's no way I'm carrying 8 waters around-talk about back pain!!

We will have the stroller - & I can store them beneath. He thinks people will swipe our water - I told him people don't steal at the Happiest Place on Earth. I hope.

Can anyone support my argument?

Ewww! Steal somebody's water? Yuck! Thank goodness we are stroller-free now, but even then we've never had anything stolen from our stroller, whether ours or Disney-rented. Of course this was in Florida when we had to use it, but even when we accidentally left packages in there they were never taken. Maybe we were just lucky, but I think nobody is thinking too much about stealing stuff. They never know if the owner is standing right there!

But usually only things of value. I have heard of balloons disappering, but who's to say it didn't come untied and fly away? Cameras, that kind of thing - yes. I would say the water is safe. No worries .

I've left sweaters, food, and water and never had anything stolen from a stroller, but I'm sure it happens. I try not to leave anything in there that I might get upset if it was stolen.

We store water in the bottom of our stroller all the time, and no one has touched it. I can't think of why anyone would steal water bottles. I mean, the germs . . . gross.

By the way, you can probably get by with less than 8 bottles if you are willing to refill at the Baby Center (cold, filtered water here -- for free!) at some point in your day.

That would be some really bad back pain carrying all those water bottles.... I have used my stroller as storage and never had anything taken from it also I have used storage bags hanging from it with stuff just overflowing from the top and still nothing was ever taken. I have though heard on very few occasions that some people have had stuff taken from their stollers while they where out on a ride .

No one took our waters last year...we always had them in the basket of the stroller.

We'd only leave sweatshirts/jackets and drinks in our stroller when they kids were younger and have never had anything taken. I think water would be safe to leave. But as others have posted, people do steal at disneyland.

the only thing that has ever been stolen from our stroller was a kids mean lunch box. when they gave out the plastic ones with the kids meal, we took our leftovers and put it in the stroller with some stuff. when we came off of monsters inc, the lunch box was gone, sweatshirts still there, no lunch box.

i figured somoene just wanted the box, not the food.

We do theme parks all the time and have never had anything stolen. I'm not the type to swipe, but if I were, I can pretty much guarantee you that the last thing I would want to risk jail for would be a bottle of something that falls free from the sky.

That being said, even if it WERE stolen, isn't that a risk you'd be willing to take? Tell DH there is a slight risk of the water being stolen, compared to the reality of him paying for a chiropractor or physical therapy for whoever has to carry the bag full of water.

We also leave sweatshirts and water in the bottom of our stroller. My basic rule of thumb is never leave anything in there you'd be really upset over losing. I've heard of a diaper bag being stolen (didn't contain anything of value, but I suppose looked like it might, plus was a real hassle for the family who was now without a diaper bag!) and even an autograph book (no monetary value, but surely priceless to the child who lost it.)

I have heard of people seeing food/drinks being disturbed by passerby toddlers and by birds in the park.

Three years ago had someone try to steal DGF's purse in DTD.He made it a 30 feet. You would think I was a linebacker. Cops were there in about two minutes and off he went. Had to go and press charges(two hours). I guess he thought this old guy was slow. I had a great laugh, the DGF was not happy.
Never had something gone missing in either park.

Oh my! I bet that was a sight to see.. I have never seen something like that happen there before. Good for you chasing him down..

We had our entire stroller stolen when we took my daughter to Disneyland as a baby. Can you believe that? I was so upset. My husband was sitting on a bench waiting for us, I took my daughter and the stroller to a restroom to change her diaper. Left the stroller right outside with all the other strollers, went inside to change her (thank goodness I took the whole diaperbag with me, rather than just a diaper and some wipes). Came out a couple minutes later and the stroller was gone! It was not expensive or anything, but it had blankets, some jackets, misc toys in it. I was really freaked out that it could happen at Disneyland. You get caught up in the magic of it all and forget that not everyone is honest.

Disneyland people told me to search around because sometimes cast members move strollers if they are in a walkway, or if they are in the way. All the rented strollers were still sitting right there, so I doubt that is what happened, but we did try to look around the whole area there & never saw it. My husband felt bad because he said the people who took it probably walked right past him, but he didn't notice.

So just beware that thefts can happen. I dont know how common it is, but keep an eye on your stuff. I am sure water bottles would be fine, unless its your stroller that they want!

Oh, and about stolen strollers: I have read a few cases of this as well. It doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. Some people think twice before taking their expensive stroller to DL, and I don't blame them. We take our MacLaren, simply because our smaller cheapie stroller is too uncomfortable to push for days on end. I do make sure to lock the back wheels when I park it. I don't know if it makes it more theft-deterrent (doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how to unlock), but it makes me feel a bit better.

Some people think twice before taking their expensive stroller to DL, and I don't blame them. I am a person who thinks if more people got involved the world maybe a bit different. I had not thought about until the "water bottle" post. Every year I seem to get in a bit of trouble at DLR because I see something wrong and act, not some thing an old man should do..but its me.

1. 8 waters is too much for one person to carry, and possibly too much for the bottom of the stroller to carry, weight-wise.

2. DS's brand new pirate hat was stolen from our stroller in September, from under a boring sweatshirt and my brother's old Duke baseball cap. Someone went *searching*. People do steal, and since a bottle of water at Disneyland is worth about 3 bucks, water IS of value there. 8 bottles = around $24...that pirate hat was only worth $12.


Something you'll see for sale at the parks is a water bottle carry strap. It's like a lanyard. That might be very nice for each of you, and since they do sell the little bottles of water there, it might work for your littler one, too. That way each of you is carrying your own water.

Since the news just recently taught us that Dasani is just tap water anyway, there's no reason not to fill up at fountains or like someone mentioned the baby care areas, as you go...there's really no reason to carry so many bottles. Only reason I can think of is to keep it cold, but they won't stay cold in a bag or bottom of the stroller, either!

We bring in a cooler that we fill with water bottles, snacks & sandwiches that we store in the bottom of our stroller. Nothing has ever been taken (knock on wood). I even leave my backpack on the seat of the stroller and it has always been there upon our return. I never leave anything of real value in the stroller, backpack or cooler anyway.
