Has anyone ever gotten notification from Airtran if their flight has changed?

Hi all,

We have a large group going to WDW in Nov. One family found out the other day that their Airtran flight no longer exists, and they are now on an earlier am flight, which they don't like.

Another couple booked an 11 am flight, which has been changed to a 9 am flight (same flight number).

Neither has gotten notified from Airtran. In fact, when I had changes before, Airtran never notified us.

Everyone is an A+ member, and everyone gets emails from Airtran, so Airtran knows how to reach us.

As an aside, I now refuse to fly Airtran. They have no regard for their customer's schedules, so we stick with Southwest which does (and occasionally USAir which does not usually change so drastically).

Anyone ever get notified? :confused3

My flight has changed 3-4 times and I never was notified. However, I do not rely on the airline to notify me because they typically wait until a few weeks out to notify since more changes could happen. I check daily and notice right away if there are changes. With an airline like Airtran, you have to keep an eye on them and call if you are moved to a different flight that you don't like.

I am also an A+ member and get the promo emails, so they also know how to get ahold of me.

Wow, I'm glad you posted this. We are flying airtran for the first time for our trip to Disney at the end of next week. I just checked our itinerary and so far so good, but I will keep a close eye for changes!!!!
 
It's been awhile since I flew them but they usually call around 30 days before.
 

I fly Airtran frequently out of PIT and, depending how far in advance you book, the flight times may change quite a bit. The only time mine was changed, they changed it back to the original times before we actually left. I usually don't worry too much until a couple of weeks prior to travelling.
 
A week after I booked the only non-stop flight each way between Bloomington, IL and Orlando, Airtran dropped the non-stops except on Saturdays. I noticed the change because I was checking online. I didn't like the connecting flight they gave me, so I called and got earlier flights.
 
We are traveling on Airtran for the first time in January. Our flight has changed several times since I booked it several months ago. I assume it will continue to change until we get close and I plan to check frequently. From what I've read, they are not very good about advising people about the changes.

At the moment, I am happy with the change, since we will arrive in Orlando about an hour and half earlier than originally planned.

My advice is to check often.
 
I was called when my mom's flight was changed. I booked and paid for her flight so they only had my contact info. I don't remember how far in advance of the trip I was notified but I think it was within a month or so?
 
They changed our flight and I was never notified via email or telephone.

Since our flight changed to a stop in Atlanta with a change of planes and a layover, I called and got a complete refund on non-refundable tickets. :cool1:
 
I just had to go check my flight on Airtran for our upcoming trip when I read this! This will be our 4th time flying Airtran and I have yet to experience a time change (knock on wood!). Maybe since we fly from a smaller airport (Dayton) there are less likely to be changes?
 
I had booked my trip early Sept leaving in Novemberflying out of Dayton,ohio ,only the time has changed by less than an hour. no big deal. i hope that doesn't change.

It is not just AirTran. I booked Delta and they have changed my flight 3 times now in the past 2 months since we bought our tickets. But I guess I am lucky because I have been notified each time our times have changed.
 
My outbound flight is Oct. 10th, and I got an e-mail today (Oct. 5th) telling me there was a schedule change! It was the same schedule change I knew about in May, shortly after I bought my ticket, but the e-mail asked me to click on a button if I accepted the changes.

One thing I will say about Airtran that is positive. In my experience, they are very willing to change your flight if they change your schedule or even give you a refund if they can't accommodate you. That's sometimes helpful. However, it's not helpful at a time like Memorial Day when the last nonstop home is changed from 5 pm to 1 pm, and all other airlines are sold out. In that event, we were basically stuck with what they offered us.
 
The first time I flew Airtran they changed my flight time by 4 hours. They did not notify me. I just happened to check and noticed the change. At that time I was not an A+ member. So, for our next Airtran flight I signed up. I was notified by e-mail and phone when that flight time was changed. I assumed they notified me because I was an A+ member. But, maybe not.
 
Yesterday, even though we leave on the 8th, something made me decide to check AT schedule one more time, just in case...

yep, another change (20+ min. later), guess later is better than earlier, since I didn't get email notification:confused3

this was the 3rd change for this flight, have had others move a total of 11 hours over 5 or 6 changes.
must say this is the latest they've ever tinkered with it...did see an email notification (1st ever!) this am advising of same, i'll take that as a postive sign:thumbsup2

Believe it or not I actually just got a call last week.

Funny thing is, since I had purchased my tix in one-way segments, I was already in WDW when they called my home to advise of a 1 hr change! Message was on my machine.

I do think alot of times the schedule changes can be equally the fault of the airport. Regional carriers may not get as much priority as the big boys. I mean take USAir - PHL is one of their hubs - don't you think PHL will assign ground crews, gate space, etc to them before they will AirTran / Southwest or JetBlue? I mean how many gates, domestic & international does USAir pay for vs. the others?

I actually got an email from them a few days ago. Not sure if it was to let me know that my schedule had changed months ago or simply a confirmation, but I did get the email.

We leave on the 18th and luckily it hasn't changed in months..... now... off to check again.

I noticed the change when I went to the site to cancel DBF's flights. I am an A+ member and had not been notified. The change was acceptable, so I did not worry too much about it. I will definitely keep an eye on the site until I leave, though!

I just found this out this weekend..... Airtran also called our house last Tuesday to notify us of the change......
