Has anyone else been getting gift card offers?

I got this today - with a nice note as to what it can be used for. Not bad for what was essentially less than ten minutes. I'd recommend anyone getting one of these letters to give them a call :D

I received the Open House $50 offer. I showed it to DH and he said no way, but now I'm reconsidering. Do you get to pick when your tour is? I'm also wondering how the DDs will suffer through it. :rotfl:

Two years ago (December) I got the offer from DVC and got the $50 GC! My December 2012 hotel stay had already been booked and was in the reservations system, so I suppose DVC scanned the list of people who were booked and sent me the 'during your upcoming trip, come and see us' postcard and gift card offer, inviting me to make an appointment to see them when I was at DLR. A couple of weeks after I received the offer I called and made the appointment for a Monday morning.

So I marched from the PPH over to the DVC office on the DLH property. I met with a lovely DVC rep/CM. I was given free Starbucks coffee and free Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies. I was also given a free blue DVC tote bag and their assorted information books and brochures.

I sat in a quiet room and watched a short video, then met with the CM. She showed me how the whole DVC system works. She gave me my $50 Disney gift card, She then took me on a tour of the beautiful model of an Aulani villa/room, which was fun.

All in all, it was time well spent and very worthwhile!

ETA: I did notice that DVC called me in the last week or two -- I had stepped out and missed the call, but I saw the Caller ID info. I wondered if they were just doing a 'touching base' phone call to see if I was ready to become a DVC member, or if there was another gift card offer in the works.

This was someone else's experience with it. Reading the above it sounds like it didn't take that long. My bf was the same, "ugh, now we'll get all sorts of mail." But hey, $25 bucks is $25 bucks.

If you are in Aulani and do the tour you receive a $100 gift card! The best 90 mins I spent!
We were just there and instead of the GC they upgraded us from a standard hotel room to a one bedroom suite for our entire stay!!!! It was amazing, but now i am spoiled and never want to stay in a regular room ever again! I agree with you, best 90 mins i spent :)

I'd do it again in a heartbeat if it was offered! The first time, I received a $25 gc for having a nice chat with a very friendly guy on the phone. Totally painless and I got no extra mail or phone calls other than a packet about DVC and a phone call to make sure I received it.

In December, I got the $50 gc for going to the DVC office next to DLH and talking to an agent about how DVC works. He, too, was very friendly. I got cookies and coffee, saw a short video, and heard about Aulani (which was the main push in the presentation). There was a bit more of a sales pitch than the previous phone call offer but not anything too pushy and I was very comfortable with it. The office was quite nice and there were things around for kids to do so I think they have that thought out. When it was done, I told my agent that I'd gotten FPs last time and he ran off and brought back 4 all-inclusive FPs for up to 6 people...very cool! If anyone reading this gets the offer but no mention of FPs at the end, you can tell them you know someone who got FPs and maybe they'll do the same for you.

Could I ask, did you get a mailed request to set up an appointment or did you walk in?

I'm curious if I'll be contacted again as once I heard the price I had no interest in the Timeshare. $16,500. I haven't done the numbers as to what the dollar/point value is but I don't travel often enough to make that worth it for me.
I would price out your Disney stays for the next 48 years before excusing the dollar amount -- IF you frequent Disney often.

It was a mailed offer and I had to call to set up the appointment. Since I was staying onsite, I imagine they knew I'd be coming soon when the mailed me the offer.

I got the offer in the mail today to do a Open House Tour and get a $100 gift card - pretty neat. And thanks to this thread I'll probably do it while we're at Disneyland! :D

I'll let everyone know how it goes!
Woohoo!!! Man, I hope they send me that offer. I could use it!

The fine print reads every 12 months. They may only send them out if it's been a full year since your last one ;D

I will say that we recently went to Hawaii. I'd inquired about membership for that chain and we got a gift basket while we were there. Asking about buy-in options seems to be slightly lucrative apparently :D

I do have a reservation for December...one year from my last one :-). Since I've never followed up, I doubt I'll be sent any offers, though.

I'm curious if they take you off a list, with the fine print, it seems like it may be random. I'm surprised I got both of them.

Me too! I did get a strong impression from the CM at the in-house tour that I wouldn't be getting further offers, but who knows?

I have not gotten additional gift card offers after my 2012 experience that I posted about earlier in this thread, but DVC has not lost contact with me! I am still on their radar. I get emails, postcards, and even occasional phone calls. In fact, one of my favorite pieces of mail came from some facet of DVC (but I can't recall if it was the Aulani segment, or WDW) -- it is one of those 'word magnets,' with dozens of different words on it that you can pull apart and arrange into sentences on your refrigerator (I don't know what the official name for those magnets is, but I'm sure you've seen them), except that a couple of the magnets within the magnet are pictures (one of them has a picture of mouse ears!).

I kind of like that DVC doesn't just send out the offers to everyone, and keeps them limited to people who already have reservations at one of the onsite hotels (and even then, not everyone with a reservation will get an offer). Otherwise, if they didn't apply some sort of restriction to it, everyone under the sun would be trying to devise ways to get a gift card offer and then the gift card offers would end up stopping completely. I think it's better that they keep it a bit exclusive and limited, and I am grateful for the one offer that I fulfilled -- and for the fun, free magnet!

Ohhh! We are staying at Aulani next year and I would love to score a gc or a room upgrade! I hope we get one!!

The gift card offers from DVC seem to mainly go out to certain people (not everyone) who have a current reservation in the Disney system, and have not yet begun their trips. In other words, if you were already booked at a Disney hotel or property of some kind, your info would be in the system and then DVC could decide whether or not to send you the gift card offer. They want to see that the guests are already willing to spend the money to stay onsite, as that might mean that the guest would be staying onsite enough to warrant buying into DVC.

Whatever the case, DVC seems to go for the people (via mail) who are already going to be Disney hotel guests of some kind, and in person they go for the people who are on or near the hotel properties.

Hmmmm.....I stayed onsite in a 2-BR suite at DLH last year. I'm a Premium AP holder for the past 3 years. And I'm staying in the DVC villas @ GCH in December by renting points. I wonder if I'll get "the offer". :P

I found it kind of odd I got both, and when I called to make a reservation it seemed a bit dodgy. If I hadn't known the above people went I probably wouldn't have agreed since they seemed so open to have people show up. I plan to try and 'drop' in before my reservation time, but we'll see.
