Has anyone eaten at Trattoria del Porto at Portofino recently?

The web site says they are only open for dinner Thursday through Monday nights and it makes no mention of the dinner buffet!

Friends of our ate there last summer for the dinner buffet and raved about it. Is the buffet still there for dinner, and is it only on certain nights? Thanks for any info.

Hi,
I was there 2 Friday nights ago for dinner. There is a buffet but you can also order from the menu and not do the buffet. The buffet is very nice. Salads, antipastos, chicken parm and pastas. There are lots of other things as well. There is also a chef that does specialty pasta dishes right there, you can get linguine with shrimp, marinara sauce or pesto sauce just to name a few. The food is delicious but be sure to make reservations especially for Friday evenings because it was jammed packed and they were turning people away or telling them to return 2-3 hours later. Hope this helps.

I would recommend this especially if you have kids. Good meal, very reasonable, chance to see a beautiful hotel... We went on a Monday a few weeks ago. We Went early (5:30ish) and there was no crowd at all. The buffet was very good although not very extensive. Excellent salad bar and wonderful dessert bar. Lots of kid friendly food like chicken fingers and Pb&j sandwiches. Nice salad bar. They also had a women making pasta to order. There was usually a small line and I suspect that this could be a problem if the restaurant was full. The service was excellent and we saw scoopy-doo. We probably would have seen more charactors if we went later because they don't start until 6:30.

Unfortunately, you guys ate there on Friday and Monday, so I still am wondering if they have the buffet during the middle of the week. We are thinking of either Tuesday or Wednesday evening.
Anyone else out there ate during that time frame?
