Magic Key Back on Sale on 11/6 at 9am PT

We have a 5 night trip planned in December, staying at GCH with 5 day park hoppers + LLMP, but I’m starting to stress about it being too much health-wise, so I might see if I can get in the VQ and buy Inspire Keys instead. We’re local enough that we could go once a month, maybe twice some months.

Does anyone know how realistic is it going to be to reserve days in December with a MK purchase on 11/6?

If you’re staying at GCH you can book through the hotel bucket, which usually has plenty of availability (as long as your MK isn’t blocked for the days you want to go).

Thanks, I’ll keep this in mind. But I might cancel the entire trip and just make a couple of day trips with the MK instead. I have steadfastly refused to buy a MK with the reservation policy, but with the 70th coming up I’ve been considering buying them since we’ll probably want to go throughout the year and not just during Christmas.

It's hard to say with any certainty, but I'd bet you'd mostly be fine, especially if you have flexibility as far as which days you can go. Fridays might be iffy, for example. A lot of days will likely fill up as passes are selling, too.

Having said that - they tend to replenish supply periodically - so if you miss out on a day, you can typically catch it later. (For example, some of the days around Halloween have been sold out for a while, but became available again a couple of days ago.) If you're local enough that you can react on a moment's notice, you can almost always grab reservations the night before, too - a lot of people drop last minute. It's not as much of a challenge as it might seem.

If it were me, I would consider buying the Inspire anyway, even in the unlikely event that you can't find a reservation in December. The year doesn't start until enter a park the first time, so you'd still get the full term out of it.

Thanks! The MKs go on sale after we have to pay for our vacation package, but we could still cancel it after we buy MKs and just be out the $200 deposit. I’m not sure if it would work to only cancel the ticket portion of our package, and then make reservations with MKs, but I suppose we can call about that if we decide to buy MKs and still go for the 5 nights in early December. What seems pretty certain is that if we buy the Inspire MKs, we won’t want the 5 day park hoppers that are part of our package.

I am super stressed about this. I'm in a class all day on the 6th for work. I'm going to try to snag a seat in the very back so I can have my computer open and make sure I don't miss it. I have to get the Inspire Key for our already planned trip being over a weekend that has a blackout date in it. Did those ones sell out quickly last time?

In March, the only one that sold out that day was Imagine. The others were available until early June. It's gotten less crazy the further down the road we get.

Would it work to just get a room package, then add admission later if you need to? (I'm wildly unfamiliar with all of that.)

Also wondering how your package might compare to the Magic Key room offer that would be available to you if you get Keys.

can hotel guests get access in a day that shows as not available for MK reservations?

I’m going to be in VGC Nov14-17, if I buy the MK would be the Inspire (higher tier) but its calendar says that Nov 15 and 17 aren't available for MK reservations (not blocked out just not available)… can I assume that being at the hotel would help to get in?

Thanks again

I'm still debating whether I plan to renew or not. I didn't mind the small price hike from the year before, taking the Imagine Key from $449 to $499, but raising it by another hundred a year later ($599) is kinda rubbish. There's no reason for that big of a price hike in such a short time frame.

I'm strongly considering just letting it go and trading it for a Prestige Pass for SFMM (then I get Bring a Friend days and can take my buddy Sean) and a Planet Fitness membership.
No reason? If they are selling out they have a perfect reason to jack up prices.

The 15th is opening day for Tiana's, re-opening of Small World, beginning of the holiday shows, etc. It has been sold out for MK holders since shortly after it was announced in mid August.

The 17th hasn't been blocked until recently so might re-open, then close again, then re-open again.

If a day is sold out it almost always opens the night before because of the 3 strikes system.

They've been selling out year after year, so by that logic we should expect a price hike every year and for the entry level pass to reach four digits by 2030.

Disney becoming the equivalent of Mr Krabs.

Personal opinion, but I think they will eventually narrow it down to 3 MK - Inspire, which has gone up 9.2% in the past couple of years, Imagine - to throw a bone to locals and keep people in the parks during slower times, and probably Enchant which is open to anyone but still blocks busy times. Over the past couple of years, Believe has increased in price by almost 25% with more and more days being blocked. I think they are nudging those people into Inspire.
