We are going to make up scrub shirts for our MNSSHP costumes but I'm not sure how well the transfers will work? Scrubs are usually 65% poly/35% cotton, we'd wash them first but wondering if it would work?

DH is going to *try* to make his 1st logo, one small one for the chest and a larger Mickey head for the back with the words MICKEY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL on them. It was the only thing we could all (me, DH & 9 yo DS) agree on for the party.

Any one have experience with this or willing to help us out with a logo, LOL? DH is going to be working so much OT the next few weeks, I just don't see how he can get it done! Any suggestions on making these work?

DH and I are going to MNSSHP as doctors. We decided we'd rather spend $ on scrubs than on a costume we'd never use again. I didn't think about putting a logo on it. I was just going to let DH go in plain scrubs and I was going to buy me a printed shirt. They have lots of Disney Design Scrub Tops out there.

I'll be interested to see what you come up with.

BTW, we are attending MNSSHP on Oct. 10. When will you be there???

I'll be making the scrub shirts up this week and will be happy to post back pics (of they turn out ok) and let you know how it went. We will be there on 9/15 (next Friday) for the 1st MNSSHP! :)

YES! I'd love to see pics of your scrubs when completed.

Also, the transfers (Avery Brand) I purchashed at Wal-Mart say to use on a cotton/poly blend, so hopefully they will work on scrubs. Remember: Don't use fabric softener when washing them. I've heard it causes the transfer not to stick....

9/15 - Lucky you BUT.... I'm not through planning, so I guess I can wait until October....

Have a great time at the World!

Don't know if your Wal Mart will have the same thing, but I just purchased a scrub top at Wal Mart on Friday. There were a couple of different designs, one of Mickey, Donald and Goofy as Halloween Pirates and one of Cruella Deville and the dalmations (also a Halloween design). I thought it would be perfect for the MNSSHP. I was so happy with my purchase! :teeth:

Just wanted to post a link to our MNSSHP pics on the photopass, I don't have one of the back, but do have one of the front:

I think they came out pretty well, however, it rained (buckets) and when the transfers got wet, it was hard to keep them from rubbing (like when we sat back on a ride) and they smudged slightly. Not sure why as I set those suckers really thoroughly with the hot iron.

We got lots & lots of great comments from CMS and other guests on our matching & inexpensive costumes!

:thumbsup2 Loved your scrubs! Very creative - and I don't think you could get a more comfortable costume. THANX for posting pics. Trying to talk my family into doing this for our grand gathering '07. What did you put on the back? Did you make your caps as well? Looks like you had fun!

:tink:

They look great! I have purchased scrubs and tried an iron-on of the Guest of Honor Badge - It failed. Thank goodness the scrub tops are reversible!!! :thumbsup2 I order DH a cap and ordered us both cheap stethoscopes and pen lights!

What kind of transfer paper did you use?
What does the image say on the front of your shirt?
What did you put on the back?

Looks like you had a great time - not long until we are in the world ourselves - CAN'T WAIT

I did get one iron-on to work on DD's trick or treat bag. I used the printable fabric that I picked up at Office Max. It looks like regular fabric, but works like an iron-on. I printed Stitch and ironed in onto a denim bag - My youngest DD is going to be Lilo and now she has Stitch with her. I'm trying to decide what to put on the other side of the bag, I'll come up with something....

Anyway - AWESOME JOB

I used Wilton brand and did the dark type. They were on sale at Michael's when I was shopping & they did turn out pretty good. We bought our scrub caps from eBay.

The front of the shirt had the black Mickey head and DH changed the wording slightly from the original design I received here.

It read Mickey's Community Hospital in white on the black design. On the back of the guy's shirts it had Doctor Mickey and mine had Nurse Minnie. DH works for a hospital so they gave him the booties and gloves. We decided not to do stethoscopes because it was hot and we didn't want anything hanging around our necks. The designs were made by MrsHeg from this boards, A BIG THANKS TO HER! Here's the link with the logos:
