Hello!

We threw a birthday party for my youngest yesterday and got myself completely stressed out as usual. Next Christmas season I'm hoping to go to DLP for our second trip with my daughters (who will be 8 and almost 6) and a relative. I was wondering if I'd be able to get away with going for a character meal with a birthday cake to celebrate my 6 year old's birthday, instead of a party with friends, and then just inviting family round on her actual birthday.. but the trouble is that her birthday's not until Dec 23rd and for various reasons we'd probably be going on around Dec 1st/Dec 8th I think. Do you think it would work out or is it just a bit odd to have the birthday fuss so early?

Also, last time I went we stayed in the Santa Fe for 3 nights in March and it was pretty cheap (by Disney standards!). As it'll be cold and dark I'd like to stay closer to the parks next time, at Sequoia Lodge or even Hotel NY if a good deal comes up.. am I right in thinking that it's better value for money, per person, if you have 2 adults & 2 kids per room as opposed to 1 adult and 2 kids? ie, it won't be extortionate?

no not odd at all - I took my daughter and niece to DLP in March this year, as an early birthday present for both of them (one born in April, one in May). We had the birthday cake at Cafe Mickey for them, I brought birthday girl sashes for them to wear, they both loved it :goodvibes.

Also, last time I went we stayed in the Santa Fe for 3 nights in March and it was pretty cheap (by Disney standards!). it depends on which offer is around whether its better value for money. Go do a dummy booking now for say next Tuesday for however many days you were thinking of, for both 2 adults and kids, and one adult and kids, see what the difference is. That should give you at least an idea of the percentage difference between a one-adult booking and a 2-adult booking.

Hi, I would be in the same boat as you! as my DS birthday falls on 26th Dec! So if i was to go in the christmas period again i would def do the cake thing while there!!
will be a great early suprise for her! :) So in my opinion its not odd:thumbsup2 If i can afford to go next Christmas i will going all out with a cake.
ive read loads of reviews in the past, that its so nice to see them Bring the cakes out with the characters etc! All the attention will be on her im sure she wouldnt say no to an early B'day cake;)

Ive never stayed in NY (but really want to looks great:lovestruc) But i do love the SL, Its lovely and cosy atmosphere in there. Its the Hotel ive stayed mostly at in DLP! ...and it is alittle bit closer aswell.
We were lucky with the SF,(you can usually request what block you would prefer, Nearer reception or walkway to park) we had a room next the the river, so didnt seem that much of a walk really. Over the bridge, then soon enough nearly at HNY!

We are staying in Cheyenne next time, ive asked nearer the path ways to the park :).....Well have my DS who will be 4 with me this time, so im not sure he will be up to walking back at night time! So will prob have to shuttlebus it to next time.
if it came to it and you stayed in SF again, just shuttlebus it back to the hotel! :)

Thank you, I think I will aim to go for it then :) Ideally I'd go to DLP over her birthday itself, but it's just too close to Christmas, plus her dad and I are separated and I'd hate for her not to see both of us on her special day. I'll have to look into the cake options at Cafe Mickey and Auberge nearer the time, I think :)

I didn't think of the shuttle bus :) I guess I'm thinking of the worst case scenario, rain or snow and needing to go back to the room to change and defrost during the day.. BUT I have to admit I'd really just love to stay at a 'posh' hotel ;) The SF was absolutely fine though :)

I can't wait already!

We are heading over on Jan 31st, spending one night in Santa Fe with no park tickets-then moving onto Disneyland Hotel on the 1st Feb(its still a secret where we are staying) Its my hubbies birthday on 29th Feb, but he works abroad so we are hoping to celebrate when we are in Disneyland as he'll be leaving just after we get home. Have told them on the phone that its his birthday-seeings as he only gets one every 4 years!!

I'm also going to celebrate my leap year birthday - Its also my special big 40 one too or 10 in leap years! I've booked for the half term break in Feb arriving 12th. I was wondering if it was too early to have the cake etc. but really wanted to for my 3 dd's as they would be so excited! Does anybody have any suggestions for the best place to have a celebratory meal with cake etc?
