We bought a resale through The Timeshare Store back in 2002. Pat Spell was our agent, and it was a great transaction...about 6 weeks from start to finish with no difficulties whatsoever.

I bought resale through the Timeshare Store (this boards sponsor) and highly recommend them. They explained on the phone to me how the process works in as much detail as I needed. If you are buying through them, give them a call.

It's always a guess what Disney will do with their ROFR, but they have ROFR'd small OKW contracts recently at $80 and $84.

I bought through a private seller, an 86 point BWV contract. We are closing on it tomorrow (Finally!!!). We used Timeshare Closing Services as the closing agent, and I was not impressed with their services. They did not keep in touch with me & promised things that were not delivered (will close in 1 1/2 -2 weeks, but actually has taken 1 full month). All in all, I felt that if I had gone through a broker (like The Timeshare Store -- Tom seems like a really helpful and above-board guy -- he's even tried to help me when I didn't use his company!) I would have been kept in the loop more and had someone on my side to explain things and keep things moving. A word of advice about the contract price -- have the seller pay closing costs and work the amount of closing that you would have paid ($400-450) into the sales contract. Instead of $4000 for 50 points, pay $4450 for them. That makes it $89 per point (so Disney may not want to ROFR it) but you pay the same out of pocket w/ the seller paying closing. We did it that way and I believe it helped us pass ROFR on our small contract. Good luck.

I bought both my DVC contracts through The Timeshare Store. The first was through Tom himself back in 1997. The second was a few years later with Pat Spell. Both went off without a hitch!

I bought my very first contract through Jason at the TimeShare Store, and regulars know that I can not say enough good things about Jason and Tom. In fact when I call in, Leslie recognizes my caller ID number (not under my name) and greets me by name!

I also bought my second contract through Jason before ever making it home, then I bought 3 SSR add-ons through Disney, and then I bought the BIG one from Jason (after a ROFR defeat ;( ), and now I'm back in ROFR with Jason yet again. They are all GOOD people, and that is worth a lot to me!

We've purchased 2 resales from TTS and would not hesitate to do so again. Nor would I hesitate to purchase direct from an owner without the help of a broker. Whether through the TTS or through a private sale whoever has the perfect contract for us at the price we want to pay will get our business. Good luck with your purchase.
