Has anybody NOT had a disappointing trip lately?

We went in October. We did have a few complaints; crowding not sufficiently mitigated by FP+ and some questionable CMs, although I mostly blame Disney for that (let's face it, CMs are underpaid and overworked). Overall, though, we loved our trip. We managed to pack six theme parks (including Universal) and two water parks into ten days. We didn't do EVERYTHING, but we did a LOT. We greatly enjoyed New Fantasyland and Diagon Alley, both of which were brand new to us.

We did have to rush around a bit more than we liked, but the excitement of doing so appeals to us more than a laid back, relaxing pace. 12-14 days would have been much better, considering everything we put on our plates. And yes, it was a bit pricey, but the value for the money is still there.

I've never had a bad trip, and I've been going since the 70's!

On our trip in Sept 2014 we found everything quite lovely. All the CM's we encountered were delightful, the resort was in great shape and the food delicious. Yeah the construction was a bit off-putting, and I've got zero love for FP+ or MDE, but the trip was great! Heading back in December.

I want to go, but am hesitant given such widespread complaints here about oversalted food, disgusting bathrooms, declining service, broken technology, layoffs and defections, crowds, construction, nothing new in years and decay/abandonment of whole areas of parks, rising costs in an increasingly poorly disguised effort to gouge the guest, and diminishing value. Oh, and loss of spontaneity due to FP+. So...still a good destination? Do we all just need an antidepressant and lessons in gratitude? I'm honestly not sure what to expect and whether even to go.

I went 3 times last year and loved every trip

YOu really have to take bad reviews (and sometimes even good one) with a grain of salt. I've learned from working in the service industry that something one person may deem as "filthy" or "poor service" etc, etc.. may be over exaggerated, or completely fine to someone elses standards. I've never had terrible service, terrible food, or been in a filthy bathroom at Disney World. Sub-par service and food (50's prime time cafe) yes, so I wont be going back there. But there are plenty of people who absolutely rave about it so you really cant take a review as truth until you've tried it out. Like a PP said, people are more inclined to write a bad review than a good one. For every bad review I'm sure there are 1,000 other people who who think otherwise, but dont voice their opinions on it. If everyone was having such an awful time their attendance wouldnt be going up every year...

We had a great time Nov 2014. We'd love to head back this year but it's not in the budget. Hoping for 2016!!

I thought the majority of the CMs were great! We had an issue with our RFID cards (off site guests) two days in a row. The CM helping us fix them gave us THREE extra FP+ for the next day. I was impressed especially since we weren't complaining, just explaining what happened both days so they could figure out what the problem was.

We also enjoyed the food, didn't see any restrooms that were dirty (frankly this could be due to messy guests), and didn't let the construction bother us much. We actually spent some time talking about the construction at AK in a positive light (ie: what do you think they are building behind there) while eating at Flametree and looking out over the construction next to it. :)

The only thing we were disappointed in was how much is closed at HS. It really did feel a bit sad in places. But still worth going to the park for two of our favorites - Star Tours and TSMM.

As someone already wrote, it is human nature to report the "bad" things. We NEED to hear ALL feedback on these forums. They help us plan our trips and even temper expectations. The reports are generally from forum regulars, and these people are here BECAUSE they LOVE Disney (a few trolls aside). If they seem negative at times, it is only because they have seen Disney do better, and know they can do better, and hope they will do better again. I would bet 99 percent of them will visit Disney again, so the bad things are not THAT bad. Plus people here already know the "good" things about Disney or they probably wouldn't be here. If we wanted to hear only the "good" things, we would just visit the official Disney site and have sunshine blown up our backsides and set up payroll deductions to send all our money directly to Mr. Iger.

So...still a good destination? Do we all just need an antidepressant and lessons in gratitude? I'm honestly not sure what to expect and whether even to go.

Yes. I tend to notice a rather "elitest" attitude by many regarding Disney and they expect everything to go 100% the way they want it to, they expect perfect food, perfect rides, perfect crowds, perfect attitudes, perfect, perfect, perfect. Yeah well... that isn't life! And it sure as heck isn't vacation. It doesn't matter where you go - you can get a bad meal, a broken ride, a cranky ride attendant or waiter. It all boils down to personal attitudes of expectation, entitlement and appreciation (and today far too many have too much of the first two and a serious lack of the third). I think overall experiences are largely based on how easily a person is able to just suck it up and move on, quite frankly. Whether they decide to let a bad meal ruin their trip or just brush it off and keep on going. I think it also depends sometimes on where you're coming from.

Our last trip was the week before Christmas. We couldn't believe the week went so fast and decided to stay an extra day! Great trip! :yay:

We went the week after Thanksgiving and to be honest it was our best trip yet. There are always a few things that kind of bug us, but no vacation is perfect. I was a FP+ skeptic and enjoyed the system, though it was a very slow time of year compared to most. We saw and did a lot, enjoyed some great food, and enjoyed the park itself. I wouldn't hesitate to go back at this point and I was waffling for months about it before this last one.

I've been going for many years and never have had a bad trip!

Went in October and had a fabulous time. As at least one PP said, I know it wasn't all "perfect" but what troubles we had must have been so petty as to be forgettable.

Reminds me of my first cruise vacation - first few meals we fell on the floor in ecstasy with every bite, but by the end we were comparing "do you think the Lobster is as good as night2?" "This creme brûlée is amazing, but is it as good as Tuesday's key lime pie?" There was so much awesomeness, we got too spoiled too fast!!

I actually get more out of the negative experiences posted on this (or any other type of forum) as they give some insight on what I may have to look out for. I can also compare/contrast them with my past trips to see if it's something that I encountered before so I can be prepared to avoid that situation again.

So far, I've never had something go so wrong that I wouldn't return, but this weekend starts my first FP+ trip, so we'll see how that goes! :P

We were there this past Jan/Feb and had an incredible time!

We went two weeks ago and had a great time. We've been there 25+ times since 1979 and have never had what I would call a "bad trip." Sure there are places here and there that we would avoid in the future, but nothing to ruin our experience. CMs are generally pleasant, but I have noticed in the past few years that more and more of them just don't seem happy to be there. No biggie...we still enjoy our time there.

We were there in February, and had a fabulous time!

Our only serious blips were figuring out our car rental through Disney (but now we know how it works) and one late bus back from DTD. Everything else that people are complaining about was lovely for us - food, FP+, busses, cast members...We tried a new resort this time and loved it, and had many magical moments when things just "went our way".

I agree that people don't necessarily bother commenting if things went well - only if they went wrong or were really above normal. I also think that, due to the ease of research nowadays, guests are more aware of the nice things that happened to other people, and expect all of the same things to happen to them. Sometimes random magic is only magic because it is unexpected.

I had a wonderful time last August and I'm headed back this August. Yes. You should go. It's still a wonderful destination and a fabulous vacation.
I am debating whether to go in August or fight the crowds in April. How bad is the heat & rain in August? What about crowds? We usually get to parks at rope drop & come back to resort for break in the afternoon, as we are traveling with 3 kids.....?
