Has anybody NOT had a disappointing trip lately?

was there jan 22 thru jan 26 were things as good as the past? prob not.. difference in everything you mentioned, some yes some didn't care, bathrooms hit or miss, only had one rude cast member{ most of them happy to help you} Food hey its a theme park i don't expect great food..did seem a little understaffed; i have always gone at low crowd times, usually oct or week after thanksgiving, was way way more busy than i expected... Fast pass plus .... TO ME IT SUCKED... I never ran for a fast pass ever... never used one after it expired...just restricted what we used to be able to do... we often used to wake up in morning and decide where to go, still possible but if there is something you really want to do Good Luck... Did I still have good time... of course I'm at Disney... Was I able to do as much as I was used too, a big fat no!!! will i still go of course, I enjoy myself there... But my wife would kill me if she couldn't go every year!!!! Yes for my family it is still a good destination, but my wife even had some grumbles after this trip. I don't know with increasing prices and diminishing returns, how long she will think its a good value... But October trip is already booked!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, everyone, for your awesomely encouraging replies! The dream lives on.

went for the very first time in November 2014 and already saving for October 2016. If we could go back sooner we would. best vacation we ever had

We are going in November. A week at the Beach Club Villas. Can not wait. Food & Wine will be going on. Husband and stepson running in the marathon. It's going to be so much fun.
People tend to complain on message boards. It's an outlet. I never let it affect me. Like, AT ALL.
You make of it what you will. If you are worried/anxious/expect bad things, guess what----it's gonna happen. Guaranteed.

Go! Our family hadn't been in over 10 years. Went the week of July 4th, had a blast, even with the crowd levels and the heat. Kids have summer birthdays and both will be in college next fall. Asked what they wanted to do next summer-both agreed wanted Disney again. DH & I tried Food & Wine in Sept and had so much fun. Circumstances let DD, DS & I go over Christmas. Experienced a lot of new fun things to do. Kids still want Disney this summer. We have now done some of the busiest weeks and yes, people & CM can be cranky on occasion and crowds can be insane, but there is always some part of every day that just makes you smile and feel really good that you are there.

I found disgusting bathrooms, mediocre food, & even from gross food, poor service, and construction in early Dec. 2011. Despite that we had an amazing time and are going back in July.

I went in November, January, and the first week of March. All trips were fantastic. None were perfect, but there was nothing that made me think I should never come back. The only big disappointment was that it rained the night we were at HS for the Osborne lights, so they didn't dance.

Well, we had our first trip back in October so have nothing to compare it to. I was so hyped for this trip and have never planned for a vacation like I did for Disney...and so was wondering if in the end, would I be disappointed? Was I? Absolutely not! It was everything and more and not to sound corny, but it really was magical. My kids cried when we got home because we had to leave (and this is a 9.5 year old). Everyting was great...our resort (Cars suite at Art of Animation), driving and parking was fine, not sure what you mean about the bathrooms as overall I noticed how clean the parks were, crowded but fine, great service at restaurants and CMs at the parks. MNSSHP was a blast. And again, nothing to compare it to, but we loved FP+. It let us arrive with 3 passes before we even stepped into the park. Much better than having to run from ride to ride only to get a time to return. We also LOVED the magic bands...I mean, they did everything from being your room key to keeping track of your ADRs and FP+. Very cool. So I can respond to your question that we certainly did not have a disappointing trip.

We went this past October and had a wonderful trip! Took my retired parents with us and we can't wait to go back next year. Food was great, weather was not that bad, and we made great memories. Even after hearing about the 'decline' in the parks, I didn't notice anything bad. CMs and guests were all very pleasant.

We were there in Oct with a 2.5 year old and had a blast. Was the food amazing-no. Do I expect it to be amazing at a theme park-no. Some restaurants were better than others but we weren't expecting amazing food (it is pricey but so is eating at a sports stadium or the movies). We had such a good time that we bought a small DVC contract and are headed back for a short May stay at BLT and a week during F&W at PVB. Don't let all the negative nellies scare you :)

My take on the complaints is that a lot of the complaining comes from people that go to Disney many, many times, over and over, at least once a year, if not more, so the magic has worn off a bit, or more than a bit. If you've never been, or haven't been in a very long time (like me and DH) it's going to be magical.

I want to go, but am hesitant given such widespread complaints here about oversalted food, disgusting bathrooms, declining service, broken technology, layoffs and defections, crowds, construction, nothing new in years and decay/abandonment of whole areas of parks, rising costs in an increasingly poorly disguised effort to gouge the guest, and diminishing value. Oh, and loss of spontaneity due to FP+. So...still a good destination? Do we all just need an antidepressant and lessons in gratitude? I'm honestly not sure what to expect and whether even to go.

Just wanted to share this thread i started earlier today with you, because i was feeling the same way and i also have renewed hope for my upcoming trip!

Went in February. Trip was already a win when we got there and were upgraded from POP to Grand Floridian lol. Ate at three places I never had before, all were fine, BoG lunch was just a tasty the second time, and couldn't tell you a thing about bathrooms. Could ask BF. He goes all the time. :P

We have been there 3 out of the last 4 years, and we are going back for food and wine next November. Had a great time every trip !

We are here now and I can't say everything has been perfect but nothing is. If you focus on the negative then you will never have a great time. We are already talking about when we are coming back.
