It's a site designed for teaching to and improving scores on the State Standardized tests. They have sections for several states, including Illinois.

Our teachers were discussing it at Curriculum night. While it is not anything our District can pay for right now, they are encouraging parents to look at it and think about individual liscenses for their children. There is some hope that eventually our PTO might be able to buy a school wide liscense.

It's $49 a student for the Individual liscense. I'm wondering if it is worth the price?

Our school district feels strongly that "teaching to the test" is not appropriate. They feel that their curriculum should match as much as possible to the state standards and that test results should accurately reflect what is being taught in the normal curriculum and not from extracurricular studying. They DO teach kids HOW to take standardized tests and good study skills overall, but that's it.

I can't argue with succes, our elementary schools have excellent scores (DDs school is the best in the district).

I find it really interesting that the teacher are encouraging parents to spend money on this program. Honestly, I just think that is wrong. They should be teaching kids what they need to know in class and not promoting a program that costs parents money to teach them what they need for a test. Just MHO.
