I was hit very hard when John Lennon died. I was a senior in high school. That started what seemed like a year of violence with attempted assassinations on Reagan and the Pope within months. I thought the world had gone crazy.
I think the Bee Gees are one of the groups I don't realize how much I appreciate until it's too late. I saw that Biography last year and was fascinated. I was listening to their greatest hits on Saturday. What a shame.
I don't know about anyone else, but this kind of thing also makes me nervous, because of my all-time favorite group, the Monkees, no one has died. While that is a good thing, there are times I hear one of their songs come on the radio and wonder if one of them has passed. (They are all 57 or older now, after all). Plus this thing with Maurice was so sudden--the sudden ones are worse, I think--I remember being shocked when Belushi and John Candy passed, but not that surprised by George Burns.
