What are the extras for the Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 1 DVD?

I bought the DVD at CVS on Thursday afternoon.

The only extras are about 5 deleted scenes, total of about 10 minutes.

I don't care about a preview from Part 2. I try not to watch previews before I see the movie. But I thought there were cast interviews and other extras.

Are the extras dependent upon where you buy the DVD?

Or do you have to buy the Blueray version to get more extras?

The Bluray/DVD combo at Best Buy had an extra disc with 65 minutes of extra footage. This was exclusive to Best Buy. I didn't watch that disc yet.

There is also another special features blu ray disc with the part 2 preview, trailers, deleted scenes.... actually that's all we watched last night. I have no idea if there are other special features. Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.

Special items are now generally based off of where you buy the movie and what version you buy. Different stores will have different exclusives and specials to try and entice you to buy it through them. Blu-Ray often has features that the DVDs do not have.

You really have to do a lot of research to get what you want these days.

It all depends on where you buy it, and whether or not you buy the "Special Edition" for $10-15 more. You've got to do research on what features are available at what store.

I have noticed you only seem to get special features if you buy the more expensive version.

It started out you got special features if you bought the DVD (instead of VHS), then they made it where you got the special features if you bought the "Special Edition" DVD, then the special features started migrating to bluray only and now you need to buy the bluray combo packs. Plus, they now have store specific special features just to make it even more fun to figure out which version to buy ;)

I bought the regular version. It was $8 cheaper than the BluRay verson, and since what we care about is THE MOVIE, I can't justify another $8 for extras.

I understand that to get "extra features" you have to buy the DVD/Bluray combo packs. But I didn't know different stores have different features. That stinks. How do you know where to buy then?? It makes it much more complicated. I usually bought the combo pack at Costco or BJ's if it was a movie I really loved. :headache:

I agree
It's just not worth the extra money anymore, because a year from now they'll release another version with even more extras and I'll feel jipped.

At this point the combo packs make the most sense for our household since we have a bluray player, DVD players, an iPad and iPods. However I would never purchase the combo packs just to get the extra features so I usually just go to the store that has the best deal and not worry about what features I'm getting.

Ditto. I got the movie for $14.99 on sale at Meijers. I'm not about to pay the equivalent of 3 gallons of gas for "extras".

I seriously switched to Blu-Ray because that's where most of the "extras" are now. I did it for "Up," because I wanted to be sure I had every single bit of everything for that. ;)

The frustrating thing about buying HP 7.1 is that you know there will be a Complete Deathly Hallows BR/DVD pack at the end of the year, plus probably a super-deluxe collectors edition boxed set of all the HP movies (in your own Hogwarts trunk!).

As for the bonus stuff, if there is a movie coming out I know I want, I always make a point of checking the weekly ads for places like Best Buy and Target - the ads will usually tell about any special "store exclusive" deals.

Walmart is exclusively selling the special 2-disc DVD for this title. It has the extras included on the Bluray, only for your DVD.

Our Blu-Ray version has the Ultimate Movie Mode version of the film.

If selected, some of the actors, producers, directors pop in and offer up several tidbits of how the film relates to the book, how they got to that point (when stuff was cut), etc.

I love it!

You have to buy Blu-Ray, I believe. :(

I've been afraid to mention this because people might disapprove, but I discovered that the extras I wanted to see were available online for free. I found them on a harry potter fan website.
