Harry Potter Book 7 *SPOILERS*

I wouldn't mind the encylopedia at all and would definitely buy it, but I'm hoping one day JKR might do a prequel. I know it's cliche and very Star Wars, but I'd love to read about the Mauraders. James, Sirius, Remus...even Peter Pettigrew. Their time at Hogwarts and then what led up to James and Lily in Grodric's Hollow that awful night.

I would love to see this happen. Also, I would love to know more about Regulus' story. Was V's use of Kreacher the only thing to turn him against "the dark side"??? I would also like to know Molly and Authur Weasley's beginnings. I think there is alot more than meets the eye there.

or what about Charlie Weasley? His adventures certainly could fill a book. Or she could actually write "Hogwarts: A History" and tell the story of how the school came to be. That could be interesting. Heck, I would settle for a cookbook from Mrs. Weasley! She could be the Wizarding world's answer to Martha Stewart!:lmao:

I for one am excited about an encyclopedia. I think that I would love to know more about everyone and their lives.

Since the discussion has turned to more books.. I thought I would share this book that is already out there: Charmed Knits: Projects for Fans of Harry Potter

You can knit the famous weasley sweater, elf hats, dobby's socks, and much more!

I haven't bought it yet, but I did leave the computer open to that screen, as a firm hint to my DH for a good gift. :thumbsup2

Once JKR does the encyclopedia, I don't think there will be room for an unauthorized prequels or sequels ... she can pretty much fill in all the blanks with a single encyclopedia.

And, speaking of the epilogue, I've heard rumors that she wrote it at the same time she wrote Sorcerer's/Philospher's Stone, and wanted it to stay like she wrote it, wouldn't let it be edited. I don't know if that's true or not, but it is similar to her earlier styles of writing.

Sorry if anyone else has mentioned this, I'm a few pages behind now.

I agree with this. I too recall hearing that JKR had the final chapter written a long time a go. Also, that is how we "knew" the final word was supposed to be scar. (that is until she changed it while writing this book)

A couple of more things that bothered me, was the way JKR just invents or forgets things. For example

Time Turners that was used in POA. How handy would one of those have been during all of this. But as soon as people started dying, those no longer existed.

Patronus. What is up with being able to send a message with your patronus. I know Tonks did it in HBP, but how handy would that have been in OOTP, when Harry was rushing to the ministry. Maybe that is suppose to be new technology or something. The wizarding world version of the iPhone.

Re: the Patronus...I think in either HBP or DH Harry asks about that and is told it's for more advanced wizards and requires practice. I think I remember reading that.

As far as Time Turners...I am wanting to read POA again and that is one of the reasons, to go over those again.

The ministry's entire stock was conveniently destroyed when the Time Room bought the farm in OOTP. I can't answer your next question about why they haven't made more by now. :lmao:

Correct my son if he is wrong (I don't recall it so??) but he said that all the Time Turners were destroyed during the battle at the MOM during OOTP.

ETA ~ Oops, we were posting at the same time.

There are no Time Turners. It's mentioned in Book 6 that Harry and company smashed the entire supply of them when they fought the Death Eaters at the end of Book 5. Hermione tells Hagrid that it was in the Daily Prophet.

I also got the feeling that having your Patronus send messages is more difficult than just creating the Patronus. Hermione says in Book 7 that she's been practicing and she "thinks" she can do it. However, we know that she could produce a Patronus in Book 5. So it's taken her two years to get to the point where she might be able to do it.

The time turners were all destroyed. In HBP when they went to the Department of Mysteries, the room with the bell jar and the butterfly was the room that contained the time turners. I think when they destroyed the bell jar, they destroyed this magic for the time being. Hermione even mentions it, saying something to the effect of "too bad we destroyed them last year..." (not exact quote)

The Patronus being able to send messages is too far advanced for Harry. It is said that this magic hasn't been achieved by Harry. The whole wizarding world didn't really know he could perform such a great Patronus until HBP so that's probably why no teachers taught him the message version, although the Order could have.

I do remember the minstry stock of time turners being destroyed, but come on, this is the wizard world....

I need to read CoS again, becuase I thought that polyjuice potion was a big deal, really rare, and not often used, and only lasted an hour. By book 7 its like pumpkin juice. I will admit that the movies and the books are morphing in my mind, so I may have that intial thought about polyjuice all wrong.

Now that I finished reading the final book, I am going back and rereading the entire series. :rolleyes1

However, I can't seem to find the first book. I know I bought it but it isn't on my shelf, so I am gonna have to start with the second book. haha!!!

Okay, I am excited about this semi- new book. I wanna know about Luna :)

I just finished the book last night and I absolutely loved it!

I couldn't believe how many people died in the book, I was especially sad for Dobby & Fred ...I always thought Fred & George would never be separated!and of course Lupin & Tonks

I am so happy that Snape was good all along, but then I felt bad that he had died, especially after you see his memories in the Penseive. :sad2: I went back and read that scene over again when Snape dies and noticed that he tells Harry to look at him, because he had Lily's eyes, the eyes of his one true love. I definitley got teary eyed at that part when I reread it.

I really really thought Harry was going to die and not return, but I was thrilled when he talked to Dumbledore and then came back.

Just to be clear, that shriveled up baby like thing that was making noises at King's Cross was supposed to be Voldemort, correct?

I didnt so much like the epilouge, I wanted to know more about their jobs and lives. It just didnt seem like much closure to me, but I still loved the book and I cannot wait for JKR to come out with that encyclopedia!! :goodvibes
