Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince....NO SPOILERS THREAD!!!

We are driving down to Myrtle Beach in 2 weeks, I just picked up the book CD to relisten to on the way down! We will be back in time to see it at the IMAX that we see all the 3 D movies in!!!

Many reviews say there's too much romance in the movie that really wasn't as highlighted in the book. Kreacher is cut in this one, and while not super important, he is the reason they find out about the locket. Multiple memories from Dumbledore are cut, I think they said they're only showing 2 or 3.

I don't mind cutting things out, it obviously needs to be done, but when things are added for no reason it is annoying. I don't know how anyone who didn't read the books followed Movie 5.

From some of the trailers I have seen, it looks like the Weasley's house gets burned down. I know that wasn't in the book. I don't mind them taking away, but please don't add.

I've sort of separated the books and movies in my head...for me, the movies are sort of like the highlights of the books, but not the whole story. That way, I'm not disappointed - the first couple of movies, I got so mad that things were cut out but I've come to expect it now.

I am SUPER excited for this movie! My birthday is July 14th, so at midnight I'll be at the movies all ready to go! It feels like forever since the OOTP came out, it'll be interesting to see how the actors have changed and grown since they've been off doing other projects in between.

I haven't seen it yet, but that [the Burrow scene] was in a spoiler review of the film on Leaky.

Another thing for everyone to look out for: Apparently HBP won't be released in IMAX format on the 15th. Supposedly Paramount claimed the month of July in IMAX last year, when Warner Brothers was planning on releasing HBP in November and had IMAX booked for that month. Well, since Warner moved the release, Harry's not going to see the IMAX format until July 29th.

That is all my daughter has been talking about since seeing the coming attractions last month at the imax---and they said "Harry Potter in IMAX 3D" will be coming in July- no way can we miss it....

I am so excited for the movie!! I wanted to re-read the book but I got caught up in other books.

I agree. I enjoy the books and movies both as complements to each other, but I'm okay with the editing. Except of course with the 5th movie...it would have been really hard to understand if you hadn't read the books.

Anyway, this and the 7th books were my absolute favorites! I'm suuuper excited about this one!

I'm super excited too! I started re-reading the series from book number 1 and I am just now starting HBP. I should finish the series by the time this new movie comes out. I appreciate the films for what they are and I realize that they will never be as magical as the books.

My husband didn't read any of the HP books before watching 1, 2, 3, and 4. Then he got hurt and had to spend a week in bed, so he started reading. He then understood why I was so peeved at all the changes in those movies! I think he'd read 5 by the time it came out (What year was that?). I remember him saying it was dreadfully confusing (he's only read them all once...unlike me who's read them all 7 or 8 times...). My Christmas present last year was an iPod with all 7 HP audiobooks on it!

I'll never understand Hollywood's incessant desire to change major plot points in books. It isn't like HP books haven't sold millions of copies because they were flawed! I know things have to be cut for time's sake, but skipping major things or adding new things is just stupid.

Exactly!! They could never get all the great stuff from the HP books into a movie but there is certainly no need to add or change anything. The books have more than enough great stuff!!

While we've been listening to the books we keep saying how great certain things would have been on screen!

ITA! It shows how dangerous it is to judge people (or magical creatures ) They ~ Snape and Kreacher come through for Harry in very significant ways.

I am excited for HBP but I almost know without a doubt I will be disappointed. I hope they will consider doing things right for the last movie. I would have no problem sitting in the theater for three hours if it is done correctly. The time seems to fly by when a movie is done right.

Yes, I'm very excited about this movie This is my favorite one out of the HP books. I love the part with Felix Felicis. I hope this part is in the movie.

I'm disappointed about Kreacher being left out.
