Hey everyone, my little guy will be around 16 months on our trip this August and should be ripe for his first cut and the idea of doing it at MK sounds really cool. Just curious what people's experiences have been there as far as wait times to get in, the time it takes for the haircut, if its worth it, etc.

Thanks! Cheers!

You can make a reservation 180 days out like for dining. I found a very short wait when we did it and it was fun! We didn't do first hair cuts, as my boys were 6 and 9, but they enjoyed it and got good haircuts. I would say it took no longer than any other place for a hair cut.

This has been a Magic Kingdom tradition for decades... with thousands of happy guests.
(And dozens of reviews can be found on the DIS.)

We booked ours like 60 days out and they only had one appt left. Haven’t done it yet! Definitely call ahead though as they do fill up well ahead of time. (I’ve heard they sometimes accomodate walkups but may tell you to return in 3 hours or so. Probabky all depends on if they have no shows day of or last minute cancellations).

We visited Harmony twice last week, which was a busy spring break week. Once was a walk up. They had lots of spots left when we checked about times but when we returned for the appointment they didn't have any. I think if you get there early you will be fine. My kids are older, 12 and 13, but enjoyed it. There were several getting/waiting on the first haircut. The stylists are very good with kids and everyone was friendly. They don't do updo's or braids as it is a basic dry cut service. They will spray the hair to get it wet but there isn't any washing, etc. We will go again when we return in a few months. They were pretty close to the time that they told us to be back as far as waiting on our appointment - we didn't wait long and the appointments don't take long either.

We did a first hair cut for our oldest on her 3rd Birthday trip (our second has an appointment for June for her third birthday trip). It was cute and so fun. We had an appointment so very little wait - definitely worth it IMO.

We did this a couple years ago for our 2nd child and loved it! We made an appointment and waited about 10 min or so once we got there. The haircut was pretty fast. He was 10 months old at the time so they distracted him with a light up Mickey toy and cut his hair real quick. We got a keepsake certificate, lock of hair, and my first haircut Mickey ears. It was actually very reasonably priced and we thought it was well worth it. Special pictures and memories! I highly recommend it. I remember we had to bring cash but I don’t remember if it was just the tip had to be cash or both the tip and haircut so just keep that in mind. Also the shop is very small... something to keep in mind if you have a large party.

Definitely make a reservation. It’s so cute! My son had his first haircut there in 2017 when was 13 months. It didn’t take very long and they had little handheld Mickey light up and spinning toys to keep his attention.

Highly recommend and would do again in a minute. The first haircut package is one of the most reasonably priced special experiences at WDW and totally worth it, in my opinion.

He received a certificate with lock of hair, first haircut ears, and the stylist suggested a photo pose for us - she set it up so we could see his smiling face in the mirror and the “first haircut” writing on the back of the ears. Really fun and happy memory.

I agree, definitely worth it. We did my son’s first haircut there at a year old. It is one of my favorite memories! Call and book in advance if you know you want to do it.

I have to agree that it was well worth it. We had my twin grandsons 1st haircuts done there and had a wonderful experience. One cried his eyes out, but they did a great job of distracting him with stickers and light up toys. I got some great photos, and they provided the certificate, etc.
Also would highly recommend making an appointment

We did it last year and it was so worth waiting to get done at Disney! I made the reservation 180 days in advance to work best with my park plan. Had to wait a few minutes to get in. They did great at keeping him distracted, 15 months old at the time. Definitely worth the price considering you get the my first haircut eats, certificate, and the little baggy of the first clippings. Wish I would’ve done it for my oldest 2.

We did this last August and it was fantastic! They were so friendly and patient with my DS (who was so not into it at first). He got a really cute haircut and the price is possibly one of the best deals going at Disney.

As others have said, call to book an appointment at 180 days.

Great experience! We did it for my son's first birthday and it was so cute. The lady was so sweet, she covered him in Mickey stickers to keep him occupied. We had a reservation for my 3 year old daughter a few months ago. It rained all day and sure enough she was zonked out in the stroller come appointment time. They were very kind and understanding and were not upset at all that we cancelled the appointment at the last minute. If you can't make a reservation they suggested being at the barbershop right at park opening and they could usually get you in without much of a wait.
