We went to Disney either the 1st or 2nd week of December the following years: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005. (The three year gap was due to having two babies in that time frame

).
When we went in 2005, I was FLOORED! I was so spoiled by low crowds and being able to walk-on just about ALL rides (even the headliners didn't have very long waits...20mins max) but the crowds were MUCH larger that 1st week of December than I had ever seen during that time period (that week also happened to be the week after Thanksgiving--which might have caused some of the crowds). I actually had to go back to using my tourguide plans (early to the parks, avoid EMH days, strategic fastpasses, etc,). I was very disappointed.
Last year I was teaching so we went the week of Thanksgiving and the early part of the week was not that bad (about the same as the 1st week of December 2005 honestly).
This year we've planned for the 2nd week of December...us and ALOT of other folks. I know it will be more crowded than the years past, but hopefully not as bad as 2005.
I think that more folks are going during this time of year because it is the "slower" time and it's not as hot.
I've also noticed in my previous editions of the UG (unofficial guide) that the crowd levels for the first two weeks of December were 1 or 2 (out of 10). This year (2007), the lowest crowd level is a 3 for that time period (or any time period for that matter). Gone are the days of 1s and 2s on the crowd estimates, I guess.
