Can anybody let me know if

1) Towels are provided for the pool &

2) What are the options for breakfast i.e. better to head straight to the parks & eat there or at the hotel.

Any advice would be greatfully accepted!

;)

Hi, Janet and welcome to the DIS!

Pool towels are provided. The only option for breakfast inside the hotel is at the Sunset Grill which is at the back of the hotel on the ground floor. They do a buffet breakfast which we didn't try last time we stayed, but probably will this time.

You've got plenty of choice for lunch and dinner - the parks, CityWalk and the 3 hotels, but breakfast is a bit trickier. There is a Cinnabon at CityWalk and another at IoA in the Port of Entry. I have heard that The Croissant Moon Bakery (also in the Port of Entry) is very good. Not sure where the other breakfast options are in the parks.

When are you going? Share your plans with us!

Thank you Debbie.

We're staying at Hard Rock 5 nights and then POR 14 nights, between 5-24 Oct.

We only have a car for the last week so breakfast will have to be close by. Thanks for the advice.

Hi Janet,
We are staying at the HRH now until the 11/09.
As Debbie mentioned, there isn't a lot of breakfast options at the HRH. We usually skip breakfast and either have an early lunch in the parks or get poolside service from the beach club.
We ate at mythos in IOA on Sunday and the food and service was just amazing. The beach club serves burgers, nachos, quesadillas, turkey wraps, pizas and salads.
The HRH is running at 20% occupancy at the moment (Yes that is 20% !), so geting towels by the pool isn't a problem. today there has been a maximum of 15 people by the pool.
Feel free to ask any other questions. I will check the board from time to time.
Regards
Paul

20% occupancy?! That's quite worrying for the viability of the place longer term. When I originally tried to book for the 18 and 19 October, I was told there was no availability at all for 19th and we only got the dates via 'the back door'.

Maybe we'll be well-placed for a cheap upgrade when we arrive!

Deb - I was thinking the same for when we arrive two days after you!!

20% - that's amazing. I know this is their "quiet" period, but that's taking it a bit far. The Sentinel article comes to mind again:eek:

Hi,
The HRH is deserted at the moment. It was quite strange before, we actually saw someone checking in !
I looked out at the pool this morning and there was NO ONE there! Not even a lifeguard, which was unusal.I think its going to get busier towards the weekend, for Halloween Horror nights. We are going on the 4th or 5th.
You shouldn't have any problems getting upgraded. We managed to get a (large) pool view from a garden view and he said we could have concierge for $50.00 extra per night although he did initially try to get the concierge for free.
Regards
Paul

OK - Annie Know Nothing here;)

I keep seeing mention - both on this thread and on the Disney resort pages - about Concierge . . . . what exactly does this mean?

Thanks guys

Annie, glad you asked that question. Was just wondering the same.
Is it worth paying for an up grade, are the rooms far superior?
Also, I have read that there is a shuttle from HRH to Seaworld. Is this correct?
Oh, sorry, one more thing. I presume that it is right to tip the maid daily as at Disney.

Thanks for all the info!
Getting far too excited now.

Concierge tends to be on the top floor of the hotel - at HRH it's called 7th Floor Club - and your room key card is specially encoded so that you can get access to the floor. You receive special benefits such as food (snacks) and beverage offerings all day, and dedicated CMs to help you out with all sorts of things such as making PSs.

Whether or not it's worth it depends on how much you have to pay. We managed to upgrade to AKL Concierge for $20 a night. The only downside at AKL is that the rooms are on the 5th and 6th floors and you don't get such a good view of the animals from the higher floors. The strange thing about HRH Club is that the rooms are the same size as standard rooms, whereas the Deluxe rooms (which are cheaper than Club) are considerably bigger. I've never got to the bottom of whether you can get a Deluxe Club room, but I think not.

:D
Thanks Debbie.

Do they automatically offer up grades if they have rooms available, or do you have to ask?

JANBERRY,
The HRH wil not automatically upgrade you, even if they have the rooms available.
My sister checked in today at the HRH. She presented her Loews card and kindly asked for an upgrade from standard pool view She was told the same as me - $50.00 per night extra to concierge. There is also a sign on he check-in desk which says "ask about our room upgrades"
Hope this helps
Paul

Thanks for all the info.

This time tomorrow will be at the airport. Cant believe its finally here.

Thanks again.
