Hard Rock Cafe - Don't Do What I Did!

The Hard Rock Cafe is dark and I didn't notice on the check that they had already added a $14.00 tip! I ended up leaving another $17.00!!!!!!!!!!! There was a very happy waitress there that day.

Unfortunately, this is common in the restaurant business, not only the Hard Rock Cafe. A lot of times if you have a large party, the server will automatically add 15% to your bill for a tip. Some one will unfortunately overlook this and leave a tip anyway. Of course, you can leave more if you think the service was exceptional.

I think they automatically add the tip if you have six or more people in your party. The waitress should have pointed that out! At the HRH the tip is automatically added to your room service bill so watch out for that as well.

Many restaurants have it listed on the menu that the 15% gratuity is added for parties larger than 6 (or 8). At the Bennigan's I'd go to on Tuesdays with other Sak players, there'd usually be enough for our waitress to add the gratuity into the checks. Many of us would still tip 15% on top of that.
