It amazes me how DIS'ers will post one post after the other explaining why they don't care about something ~ if they don't care ~ why bother posting??

Well maybe that is why it is called the DIS Discussion Forums! People can discuss what others are talking about!

To let people know that everyone who goes to WDW is not as cranky and self-righteous as many of the people who opine on these boards as though they were appontied by Walt, himself, to set the rules and cary them out in all of WDW.

We stayed a few days at CR last week and 4 out of 6 dryers in the North Wing weren't working. I learned that there aren't any laundry facilities in the Tower so that left one laundry room available in the South Wing.

This is really an absurdly ridiculous situatiion for a resort that describes itself as Deluxe.

Along with the lack of dryers and getting caught in the rain showers, you really had no choice but to put things out, to dry.

If a hotel says it has washer/dryers then they should be in good working order.

I wouldn't expect a Deluxe hotel to have washer/dryers. I would expect a deluxe hotel to offer laundry service and dry cleaning. I find those service to be over-priced and I don't use them but some people must.

I thank God that I can afford to take my family on a nice vacation.
I thank God that I have a lovely family to vacation with.
I thank God that I have a secure job that provides paid vacation time.
I thank God that the headlines when I turned on the news this morning involved the circus in California and not domestic terror attacks.
When my plane lands in sunny FL, I'll thank God that we were delivered there safely.

If I walk out of my room Thursday morning and find my resort-mate reclining on a lounge chair that he swiped from the resort pool with his wet underoos hanging on a rusted-out washing machine while his DW shaves his back hair, it will not affect my enjoyment of this vacation except maybe give me my first giggle of the trip.

Have a wonderful vacation everyone. I'm on my way to see the mouse.

On our last trip we stayed at CBR. There were clothes hung over the railing of the common walkway. Those same clothes stayed there for at least the entire first week we were there. In fact, some of them blew down and were lying on the walk in front of our room. One time, I picked them up and laid them back on the rail. The next time we came back to our room and pieces were lying in front of our door, I just kicked them to a corner. Yuk! I can't imagine how dirty those things were after lying out there the entire time. They certainly were no longer wet. The people were just to lazy to bring them back in. After the fourth or fifth day, I was tempted to gather them up and put them in the nearest trash container!

TACKY! TACKY! TACKY!

I spend good money to stay in a nice hotel. If I wanted tacky, I could go much cheaper!

If it is a shared space to be enjoyed by all then it should be respected as such your personal items should be kept in your own private space - your room or your balcony- not cluttering up any space everyone is sharing. I don't want your towels messing up my photos and socks, underwear, etc. that's really low.

Last year while we were coming back over the seven seas lagoon back from the MK there was a room at the GF that had a TON of laundry draped across the balconey. It was Mickey and Minnie clothing. It thought that it was adorable. I wish I had taken a picture of it. That was cute.

Does anyone have an idea of how much the resorts charge to do laundry?? Not dry cleaning, just washing my shorts/t-shirts. We'll be at the Polynesian and with my luck the washers/dryers won't be functioning!!!

Mickey and Minnie are exempt from tackiness.;)

LOL Tink... I am shocked they would be "sharing" a room.. they aren't married are they?? :p

Maybe it was a 2 bedroom suite...

I am going to have my camera ready this trip and I will post any pics of the Beverly Hillbillies family laundry - should I come across it. :)

I thought they worked pretty well (over the 4th) and no problem getting 1 washer and 2 dryers. I split mine into small loads to dry.

There was also a thread on the Universal board (I bleiave there aren't laundry facilities at PBH) and it included a post about a place that will do your laundry it was very cheap I thought. I guess alot of people have used them.

We noticed the laundry at GF too. We were there last week and I even pointed it out to my husband. I just found it kind of funny and I was a little surprised it was allowed! We live in a deeded community and we aren't even allowed to hang out laundry at our house!

I just noticed you said last year!! We just noticed this last week coming back on the little ferry from Mk to the Poly!

ROFL!!
This is what DH said when he saw the clothes hanging from the Beach Club!

And just for the record, I don't "worry" about clothes hanging on the rails. It's just my opinion that it doesn't look good at all.

I also think Walt would probably not want to see clothes hanging on the balconies, either. Yes, he was a family-oriented, easy-going, good-natured fellow, but I don't think it would be the "look" he was going for!
Disclaimer: I do not personally know Walt, and all of the above is just my HO.

Just when I think I've seen everything there is to see in WDW after 22 years, the DISers come up with something else for me to look out for!

Since discovering the DIS, I've become a "mug man", "pool hopper", "hat/shorts/tshirt wearing in a resaurant", "cheerleader group", "it's my birthday, gimme something" spotter. Now on my next trip I can be a "laundry on public display" spotter too!

How will I ever find the time to see the magic?!?!?!

O.K.
Thanks everyone.
Instead of working on my own trip/resort/dining report I just spent my very precious computer time (home alone w/ 2 kids) reading this thread.
I was intrigued by the subject, having my own thoughts on the topic. But then like a train wreck (of a very long train) I couldn't look away. I kept thinking...it is 6 pages long...LOL.
I love it.
Because you all need to know....I hang my towels & suits on a chair on the balcony. I would not put them over the balcony for all the previously stated reasons. Plus, a lady next to me on the 5th floor of BCV had her towel blow away. It got stuck on a drain pipe. She had to knock it off with a broom and then send her husband down to the grass to retrieve it. I had to stand there and watch. Again I couln't look away.
I don't think it would ever be appropriate to hang personal items in a public area such as railings at the Moderates.
I'm sure you all needed to know what I think.
FYI in a grand achievment in poor planning I did laundry at the Poly, ASSp and BCV (we had a studio). Worked well in all those places. Don't overload the dryer.

I now am going to sit back and wait for the "What is the weirdest thing you have seen hanging from a balcony in Disney World?" thread.
;)
