Hanging clothes outside your room??

I would think some of the people are unaware of the availability of washer/dryers.

I've read a few posts from people who found out the only "working" dryer wasn't drying their clothes. I think at night there may not be a lot of options, during the day I'd let the hotel take care of it.

Well, I think that it's ok for me to hang laundry out on the balcony because I really like the convenience. Just me though...too many people doing it would definitely make the place look tacky.

JUST KIDDING, people!! ;)

I can't get our suits to dry inside or out, that humidity is unbelievable:eek:

Cassie's tip of the day.... tie your suits to the ceiling fan ... put it on low setting and "voila"!

It's okay to be tacky in the privacy of your own room.... I'm sure the mousekeeper gets a good laugh too! :P

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. But when Im on vacation I really dont care what other people do, I dont spend much time in my room and when Im outside I dont spend much time looking at what other people are doing.

Towels and stuff hanging outside on a balcony with swim suites is pretty common at any vacation spot.

Life is too short to get hung up on the little things, you should be enjoying your vacation and not worrying about other people, its just clothing, now if it was empty beer cans and trash they were laying out all over the place, then be concerned.

Just my opinion.

Please people!! We all know that if you put your wet clothes in your rental car for the day, they'll be dried to a crisp by morning.

All kidding aside, I feel it's tacky to hang wet clothes from a shared balcony at WDW. At a beach house, I feel a little differently, but a WDW hotel isn't a beach house.

We stayed at AKL last time and I doubt the hotel would encourage people to hang laundry onto the balconies on the Savannah.

I thought everyone knew that you were supposed to take your wet clothes and put them on the pool lounge chairs to dry while they save your place! ;)

I totally agree with you, Keith. This seems to be another issue of people wanting to have everyone else do like they do.

keith-atl--

Perhaps you don't spend a lot of time in your room or looking around the resort, but many people do. To a lot of us the beauty of the resorts is what brings us back to WDW. And laundry draped over raillings very much detracts from the theming, landscaping and beauty of the resorts.

IMHO, this is incredibly tacky. I don't care where you are staying, show some class.

:)

Only if you can get there by 5:00 a.m. and don't return until noon at the earliest! ;)

I was at POR last week and I know just what room you're talking about. It was the second floor of building 14. They had what I think was a bungee cord stretched between the 2 doors and were hanging towels, socks, bathing suits and other stuff. I so wanted to cut that line and leave the laundry on the floor!

It's one thing if you place laundry on you own private balcony. But at POR you are hanging laundry in public spaces that people have to walk past. That railing in front of your room is for everyones use not for you to hang your laundry on.

If I can see it while walking the ground of the resort then it shouldn't be there. What you do in your room is your businiess but once you take it outside it shouldn't affect others. If the decor of the resort was supposed to have hanging laundry all over the place then Disney would have put some fake laundry out to begin with.

I consider this sort of behavior on par with littering. Both are eyesores that we shouldn't have to deal with.

You are absolutely right, life is too short to get hung up on little things. But If I'm walking to my room, while taking in the beauty of the resort and turn a corner and see someones belongings hanging from a railing, it tends to spoil the moment. I think most resorts provide a clothes line you the bath room just for wet clothes puroposes. If you a person runs out of room that is what doors, door knobs and chairs are for. This is just my opinion again:rolleyes:

To me this is tacky but I would not waste any time worrying about it. Life is too short.

Even on the most humid days it's usually hot enough to dry things during the day. But overnight they'll get all wet again, so be sure to take them in!

I've put things on the chairs for a bit and used the bathroom clothes line overnight. I really don't care what other people do, but it does look bad.

It never even occurred to me to be bothered by drying clothes. I don't see how seeing clothes on a balcony is any more of an "eyesore" than seeing people on a balcony. Do they not detract from the scenery to the same degree? I'm assuming that they are wearing clothes.

I guess I've been blessed with an easygoing attitude.

Peggy

Tacky. No two ways about it. A bathing suit or a towel drying on a chair on a personal balcony is quite different than socks and tees drying on a public railing. It does detract from the atmosphere of the resort. If you need something dried that badly and can't make it to the laundry room, there is a laundry valet. Go ahead and spring for the $10 or so to have your stuff done.

Anne, I think it's AKL where nothing can be hung from the balcony.

Erin :D

I certainly do not want to walk past anyone's laundry on my way to my room. That reminds me of the "Hot Mamma" beach towel I saw over a GF balcony a few years back. It was such an eyesore to pass "Hot Mamma" every day. We finally saw the "Hot Mamma" towel on a lounge chair one day at the pool. We never did figure out who "Hot Mamma" was herself.:teeth: I think she was saving her chair for later! LOL My DH and I still joke about "Hot Mamma".
