Halloween on the High Seas

I am looking to book a 3 night cruise in September and found that September thru October are Halloween on the High Seas cruises. We are going without kids and I am not the biggest Halloween fan. We did a Halloween cruise years ago when were were on the ship on Halloween and it was our least favorite cruise. Can someone tell me what to expect? Is the entire cruise and are all the shows themed Halloween?

We are two adults w/o kids who are sailing this Sept on a HoHS cruise. I did research on this and apparently, it's extremely low key. They have a halloween tree in the atrium that they do a story telling on and trick or treat but that seems to be about it. Some decorations through out the ship but nothing over board. I belive there is an adult party in one of the clubs at night as well. The characters are in Halloween gear on the day of trick or treat but their normal costumes the rest of the cruise. The shows are the standard shows. Pirate night is apparently still on as well.

Thank you! I'm trying to research also. I think it was DCL website description that had me concerned. Hopefully it's not overwhelming and if we go in early September the entire cruise won't be just Halloween.

You'll find that the ship is decorated for Halloween and they'll be extra things in the stores and maybe a few bits of candy around.
Other than that, any Halloween activities are easily avoidable. They'll mainly happen one day (afternoon), the dance party is cute but gets pretty crowded, and thats the only thing you might run into without trying as it takes place in the atrium.
Other than that, your main shows and dining will be as normal.

We did Halloween on the High Seas, and yes the ship was decorated but it was a lot more subtle than the Merrytime cruises. They had special halloweeen events, but I felt you wanted to avoid it, totally easy to do.

"Subtle" it may be, but I found the Ghost Host making the ship wide announcements creepy, and hard to understand.

The decorations don't bother me and I really like trick or treating is in the atrium. Years ago when we went with the kids we were given a map and had to run to stations all over the ship. I'm more concerned with entertainment, themed meals, etc. We enjoy the adult nightly entertainment, trivia, etc. The ghost host does sound creepy!

I was just saying Halloween decorations were done on a smaller scale compared to Christmas.

The only thing we did was the trick or treating, and Haunted stories on the high seas (funnel vision). There was something with th pumpkin tree but we never went to that.
Cove Cafe had pumpkin coffees... but I actually don't remember a whole lot of themed food otherwise.. they had it but not a lot.

I don't know if he's still doing the announcements, I just know he was on our Halloween cruises in 2014.

We went on a Halloween cruise last October and he either didn't, or I completely missed it! Now I'm curious

We've taken two Halloween cruises, and I've never heard the ghost host announcements. Maybe a failed experiment? Or just we weren't at the right places at the right time. The pictures perfectly capture the visuals though.

Edited: we did 2015 and 2016, so maybe the ghost host was only for 2014?

I don't know. We did a Halloween cruise in 2015 also, but I don't recall it then. But I was pretty much trying to avoid all the halloween stuff on that cruise.
