Halloween Horror Nights 2010?

I wonder how much FFP will cost with express? Probably like $200 each? This pretty much means that you have to buy the express if you want to see anything on any night.
I'm guessing around $200 or so for the Frequent Fear pass w/Express but we'll see. We might be surprised.

If you're going to purchase the FFP that would normally mean you would be doing more than one night. If so...you wouldn't have to purchase the EP to see everything. Do what you can the first night and then come back and do the other houses. But you're right...if you want to do everything in a single night you would need the EP. I would recommend doing the houses the first night and then do the shows and rides when you come back. With the FFP it's nice not having to do everything in one night.

:scared1: ... my first thought when I read that was "holy crap" ... but then I started adding up things and you're probably right ... I'm thinking between $175 and $200 :scared:

Considering this year we haven't decided when we'll be going yet, but more than likely the 10th, 14th and 15th (rather than our usual week before) - two of those nights are busier nights so it just might be worth it in the long run to get the FFP w/Express ... especially since it'll be cheaper than previous years when we've done the RIP tour plus bought a FFP :scratchin

Interesting... thought the FFP would cost more than that to be honest.
Definitely seems like it's our best option.

Do discounts come out for FFPs usually? Or is it best to be asap?

The only discount available on FFPs are with the annual pass. The retail price is $74.99 for the basic FFP but the AP discount is $59.99...that's what I get every year.

Theres the APH discount.

Also I was thinking the FFP with express would be about 140.00.(aph)

Don't think a lot of locals would need express as Metro stated earlier.

We will be going for 5 nights of HHN, one of those nights is a Sat.

So the FFP w/express sound good for us, but not at $200.00 per pass.

Yeah...I think I'll stick with the basic FFP since I will see everything eventually. It's nice to have but I don't really need it to enjoy myself...Stay & Scream helps a lot.

It would be nice to not have to do Stay & Scream though and avoid the rush, right? Just stroll in at around 7:30 and if something has a line, just use express.

Sure if that were the case. On most nights you wouldn't be able to stroll in until much later...depending on the night of course.

Trust me...once you've done S & S you will not want to wait outside the main gates.

Seems like after an hour, there wouldn't be a line at the front gate anymore. I'm gonna do S&S at least the first time I go, but I'm not one to enjoy waiting for anything, so this seems like a decent alternative.

I don't think you have any understanding of the crowds for HHN and that's understandable since this is your first time. When I first when in 2004 I had no idea either. I was amazed at the number of people that came out for the event and it's just gotten more and more crowded over the past few years. Now I know what to expect and Express does help with the lines but I would rather do as much as I can early before the lines have formed. Plus EPs have gone from $20.00 in 2004 to $39.99 to $79.99 for this year depending on the date. The other thing about the EPs is...they are good for not only the houses but for the attractions open during HHN too.

Fine, I'll sit there for an hour then! Are there any other food choices besides Finnegans?

Oh come on now...you can hang out with us at the holding area. Besides...that's when we have the DIS meets. :thumbsup2

The restaurants close 30 minutes prior to park closing but then reopen after HHN opens. I don't usually eat at Finnegan's during S & S...I will wait until I've done a few houses and then go to Louie's and have a bite to eat. You might want to grab a snack earlier in the day so you can wait until HHN opens to eat dinner. There are plenty of carts around for food and drinks once HHN opens so you won't have to go very far to get something.

Its not unusal for the lines to get in HHN to be
past the arches, even at 8:00 pm.

I would rather stroll in around 8 or 9, did that once. Never again.

Even the crowds have crowds:confused:

Stay and scream and eat and drink.

The wife and I generally have a pint or two at Finnegan's during S&S, then we usually go back around 8-9 and have a sit down dinner to give us a break.

What's up with the website this year (rhetorical)? They are behind schedule! I no likey.

Lou Holtz - trust what Metro says!! :thumbsup2

We've been heading down for HHN every year since 2003. Stay and scream is definitely the way to go as you can get 2 or 3 hours finished without express before they let the masses in from the front gate. You can then be off to do the other houses - using express if needed ... then if you wish you can go back and do the houses you finished first with express. As Metro said, crowds have increased in size over the years and it's not uncommon for the regular line waits to be between 70 and 120 minutes depending on the house. We've actually seen years where even the express line was a 20 to 30 minute wait, and are hoping because the EP is being sold with the FFP, that the wait for the express line won't be near that this year - only time will tell. :sad2:

We mistakenly exited the park one afternoon (I think it was to take something back to the car parked in the garage) and had to get in the line outside the arches ... We definitely agree with you tricky1 - never, never again! Even if we aren't visiting the park during the day, we make sure we head to the studios before 4:00 pm (yes we have APs) and head over to Finnegans for the Stay and Scream option - it's the only way to do it!

Stay and Scream...DO IT! Listen to Metro and the others. Trust me...DH and I do nearly every Frequent Fear day so we have a tad bit of experience. There are only 2 ways I would ever do HHN. #1: Stay and Scream, for the obvious reasons mentioned. There are often 2 holding areas (Finngeans and one by the animal theater). #2: Arrive quite late and do a couple hours at the end of the day. I don't recommend that for someone going only once or twice tho'. It's more for FF diehards.

If you are going enough to warrant a FFP then you don't need express. We have never bought an express pass and we always see everything we want to see without a long wait. Do S&S, hit the houses until it starts getting too long for waits. Then do the scarezones and shows. Next visit hit the houses you missed the first time.

If you do feel you have to use an express pass then don't use it until you can't stand the lines any more. If I had a dime for every time I've seen some yahoo strolling into an empty line with an express pass I could buy a pass of my own. It's a waste to use it early, use the regular lines early and the EP late.

I hear ya! My absolute favorite was the family who did S&S and used their EPs at one of the soundstage houses as soon as we were released. They wasted that house (could have redone it later when the lines got long), and better yet, they got in after us and a good chunk of the line because they all had to stop to get the passes scanned while we all traipsed by.

It's the same every year...I guess those people feel superior because they have the EP when in actuality...we're all laughing at them for wasting a house. Silly people...will they ever learn? :sad2:

Ouch!

A few years ago, even though we had an express pass, we used the standby line to Run: Hostile Teritory as there was hardly a wait, while I saw another couple use their express pass, they entered the house only a couple of groups ahead of us.

I don't that it's a feelling of superiority, and more of a case of lack of knowledge.
