I have DIF and I have it bad.

What is "DIF" you ask. DIF= Dreaded Island Fever. It's day dreaming of warm sandy beaches :beach: rather then getting through the report on your desk. It's imagining you're snorkeling on a beautiful reef instead is paying attention at the fifth meeting of the day. It's wishing you had a Konk Kooler   in your hand rather then the lousy cup of company supplied coffee :surfweb: . You get the drift?

The next four weeks are going to drag! :hourglass :hourglass

As soon as I get my upgrade, I will let you know. This is the 1st time that we have tried GTY so we better get upgraded.

Dave

We don't have a GTY, but are hoping for a little bump to an outside cabin. It's not a big deal if we don't.

-have you checked online with DCL to see if you got an upgrade??

EVERY DAY!!! :rotfl2:

What is GTY? :confused3

Some folks book staterooms with a guarantee that they will get the category they booked or better. They won't know what stateroom they are in until it is assigned.

Speaking of staterooms, I checked availability yesterday. CAT 6-8, 11, and 12 are all available as GTY only. There are still 8+ staterooms available for CAT 4, 5, 9, and 10.

Heck, we don't even know what we will do at the 2 ports yet......

We are late dining by choice though as well, probably has something to do with this "whatever" attitude. So we will have our luggage I am sure.
:thumbsup2

What are the ladies wearing for formal night. I have a beaded long gown (I'm not the girlie type) so I hope I'm not going to be over dressed. It's going to be entertaining to see me walk in a long dress and high heels...anything higher than a sneaker is going to kill me! :teeth:

I really do not want to have to lug around my clothes that I am going to wear that night anyone get their stuff before dinner on their last cruise?????

Ahhh, I failed to mention that. I have NO idea how many CAT 1, 2, or 3 staterooms there are. I didn't call to find out. I just used the web site and those categories aren't available through the web.

Maybe we'll be bumped into the Walt Suite? LOL... not likely from cat 10, eh? :rotfl2:

I hope that's not the same beaded gown that Goofy Drives A Car will be wearing! I'm sure he'll wear his sneakers with it, though!

I'm going to die with you in those high heels! I've been living in my Teva flip flops all summer (SOOO comfy!). I'm really dreading wearing heels. I actually went shopping today to look for something semi-comfortable.....no luck. :sad2:

I am not a high heel person either. I am usually as tall as my husband when I wear them!!!! I have a long sequin dress and a shorter beaded halter dress to wear for the formal nights! My DH will be wearing a suit, no tux.

Is anyone dressing up for Halloween trick or treating? I like to dress up with my kids on Halloween, but again, I don't want to be the only one! My DS5 is going to be Stitch and my DD4 is going to Princess Lilo. I have a Lilo outfit as well that I am thinking about wearing. Any suggestions!?! Yes or no....my DH votes no and for me to just be normal :) If that is possible!

Have a great evening!

I am dressing up for Halloween! I think it is fun. If you like to dress up, then I say go for it! How cute it would be to dress up as Lilo as well!

I will be wearing a gown for formal night and a cocktail style dress for semi formal. Tim and the boys will be wearing suits.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I received a call back from DCL regarding how they are going to handle Pirate Night and Halloween.

The manager told me that she is in the process of contacting the ship. Currently it looks like they are going to have Pirate Night celebration and Halloween celebration on the same night. She told me that trick and treating is tenatively scheduled to be held in the afternoon this being a port day it could be a problem for those who have afternoon excercusions planned.

The manager I spoke with said they heavily consider the emails that they receive if you feel that DCL should have pirate night and Halloween separatly then please email them at dcl.guest.communications@disneycruise.com

Seems strange that Heather and I were told about a month ago that they would both be celebrated separately since the characters have "special' costumes for both. Now that it is closer they call me and tell me something totally different.

It would make sense for them to do Halloween on Halloween the 31st and pirate night the next night...

Oh believe me, I am not a good looking guy, but I would look even worse in a beaded gown. I probably shouldn't say this, but about 12 years ago, I did wear a dress to work as a halloween costume and I won best costume (for a guy). I did get some weird looks using the mens room that day. For some reason, it is hard for a tall person to look really good in a short dress (LaRues)with black socks and men's dress shoes. :goofy:

Thanks for the info Kritter. It sounds like the people on land don't talk to the people on the ship often enough. I had always heard that pirate night had to be on St. Martin day because that is the only time they can do the fireworks, so maybe that is the reason they are combining the events. :confused3

I hear you think you are right about that.....

That is what they orginally said due to the fireworks but on "special" occasion cruises they have been moved to other places.. But remember that is what someone on land said so who knows.........

I always heard that about the fireworks, but I think I read a trip report recently where the ship went eastern instead of western, or maybe it was the 10 day trip, were they talked about pirate night and St. Thomas, so the whole firework thing is out the window, I am going to be happy just to be on the ship and have my favorite Golden Gophers take down the mighty Ohio State Buckeyes on the 28th. (I hope Sloopy, Bucki and Missy don't see this :rotfl2: )

That's not true we've seen your picture :thumbsup2 ! All of your family is nice looking.

O.k I've also been in contact with DCL managers most of the day (and night). The last email exchange was around 6:00. I'm bummed out that they aren't having seperate nights. They own both Halloween costumes and pirate costumes so why are they trying to fit all of this in on one night? I bought Olivia and Cameron costumes AND pirate wear. I asked the CM which costume I should return. The Disney purchased Mulan or the pirate dress she loves. I know that we have a scheduled t-o-t on Monday but I really anticipated Disney of all cruise lines to take advantage of this special occasion (Halloween). I was told that the fireworks have no bearing. The more emails sent to the address Kristin provided the better our chance of having two different nights to celebrate equally. To have to come back to the ship early from beautiful St Martin so our kids can trick or treat on Halloween is insane. If you don't agree with my opinion I respect that. If it doesn't matter to you, I understand. However if any of you feel like I do PLEASE send off a quick email. Thanks
Jen
