Attack of the Lakeshore Lodge

Cfw is so different from other resorts that it's less important being able to exchange.
For example, it might be an excellent resort for a family of 6. Would it be likely that they'd swap their weeks at WDW for 2 days in a 2BR somewhere else?
CFW is a resort to buy only if one wants to stay there most of the time (which is true of most direct resorts and 100% true for resale at restricted resorts). If one buys to stay there most of the times, than a low point chart and high maintenance fees are better than the opposite.
If you want to make CFW a good SAP resort, then I appreciate the wish, but I don't think it's realistic.
Oof 6 people is a stretch in one of those imo.

I never said to make it a good SAP resort. Not even close. Just saying they should probably have made it just barely the worst SAP WDW resort, instead of by far the worst SAP WDW resort.

With the current point charts even shortening their trip they really couldn't even easily swap into a 1BR let alone a 2BR! So they don't even really have the option to begin with for 6 people.

If the total upfront cost for the points was the same, and the maintenance fees for the same stay are identical, then no a low point chart and high maintenance fees are not better. It would be the exact same if the total was the same. This setup makes it worse for trading out and better for trading in. Maybe by design, IDK.

But the options to trade out would be better with a slightly higher point chart and slightly lower MFs. Even if they were still the highest in WDW.

Ex.
If you have a contract stating that each day you get a cheeseburger for $2 prep fee and $1 service fee, and even if you love cheeseburgers, if there is a different contract that says for a $1 prep fee and $2 service fee you can get a cheeseburger AND an option to swap for a slice of pizza, or a sandwich, etc. then the second contract is objectively better.

So I would argue the second option is better because the total costs the same and it is more flexible. You are arguing the opposite because you really like cheeseburgers... when both options still allow for a cheeseburger 100% of the time for the same cost.

That's fine, you do you. But clearly CFW was not well done. We'll see what they have planned for it in the future, whether that be Lakeshore Lodge merger, absolutely nothing lol, or something completely different.

Not really.
You can buy a contract that cost $10,000 and gives you the option to buy the cheeseburger you buy most days for $5.
Or a contract that cost $12,000 and gives you the option to buy the cheeseburger most days for $5 or once every couple of weeks a slice of pizza for $4.

I'd buy the first contract, I don't really like pizza.

Yeah, me too. But that's not at all what I proposed they should have done though (slightly adjusting point charts, MF, and incentives while the total cost for a stay would stay the same. $10,000+$5 does not equal $12,000+$5) . So not sure why you are fighting for your life against a strawman out here.

I'll get back to dreaming about LL now, with or without CFW lol

Forgot to tell you that the pizza is only a slice that sits on a heat lamp for a while, because people who buy the pizza contract have precedence.

I didn't think DVC reservations went stale. Are they at least faster than the Boardwalk Pizza window? 🤣
Try eating a pizza 4 months after it's been cooked. And yes, at 7 months only the reservations that owners didn't want remain, a bit like a discounted stale pizza.
And don't blame me, you started the cheeseburger thread in a way that didn't make sense as a comparison to DVC, I'm trying to make it work.

By making it even less comparable? Good luck lol

This would be more in line with how the comparison would work:
DVC reservation would be when you put in the order for the food. Some people can make their orders first and certain things can run out for a swap. But the food is made to order when you come to pick it up.

A room that was booked at 11 months is the exact same room that someone else would book at 7 months. They don't give the "good" rooms to 11 month bookings and the more worn rooms to 7 month bookings. Anyways...

I guess we can agree that comparing DVC with cheeseburgers and pizza doesn't really work.

They are still in the process of adding amenities for the CFW so it might be really nice and deluxe by the time it’s all finished. I predict it’s going to be a part of lakeshore and that whole area with the horses, bike trails, golf carts, lazy river and fun campground just a boat ride from MK will be extremely popular.

I must have been hanging around on DISboards too long. I’ve read too many posts from people wanting to stuff 5 people (plus sometimes “one child under 3 in a crib” as well) into a BWV or BCV studio to think those same people wouldn’t be happy with the space of a FW cabin. Although I agree with you, 4 people would be my personal max for a cabin.

Kids in the bedroom, parents on the Murphy bed worked pretty great for us.
