WELCOME BACK CRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the welcomes ....
..... and as for the "short" initial postings.....Well...
I'm still sort of dealing with the sensation of a heaving fluid floor and random sense of imbalance at home so typing much while seated is a bit of a problem (LOL

)... and we're sort of catching up with piled up stuff and right about now I'm watching the Olympics on hi-def... (it's mildly amazing in resolution)... and I just got back from the library. Had to return the Mexico tour books and check out some new stuff for the kids.
SO... give me a little time to organize my thoughts and to pause and consider whether a Spirit trip report combined with a Magic comparison would constitute an off-topic posting for a cruise meet arena. Naww.... all I really need to make it valid is a request for a comparison based trip report....

.... and I'll draft one AND copy it to post with modest editing on the cruise critic trip report forum! Hey... I git ta post two places with the same effort, ... why not, eh?
OK... gotta finish my supper and watch the speed skating thing....
OK... rather then add another seperate posting I'm coming back to edit this one. Anyone else watching the Olympics out there? A Georgian Ice Skater just finished her energetic routine. I can't say my spouse and I are any serious critics of the sport except to simply say we're so impressed by their performances! How on Earth these kids get so good is beyond my comprehension except the presumption that they must have practiced thousand and thousands of hours on ice! And of course, not tonight so far - but normally we like to follow the downhill skiing events. My dear spouse used to ski on the NASTAR racing circuit when she was younger... while I was snow ploughing down the bunny slopes. SO we do sort of get a buzz watching those events.
OK,... back to edit again... and "Oh Yeah!!!!" .... Sarah just won the 1st place in the skating thing tonight. She had such a snappy and precise performance.... while the Russian 2nd place finisher a scant 3 one hundredths a point behind.... we don't funny appreciate how she was so much better than some of the other skaters. It was sad to see the Georgian skater in the audience looking on after Sarah won... and this may seem a bit numb witted... but we sort of wondered why the announcers were not saying that Sarah won a gold medal. SO does this mean tonights' performance was only part of 2 or more trial events like a decathalon?
OK, gotta go git more vittles before it all gets packed into the fridge.

There is a thread for the May 27th cruise, in fact it is now the largest thread on the boards with over 27000 posts. I let Fran do all the posting on it. If you do not read it every hour then at the end of the day you have 10 pages of reading.
XLT800
Now THAT is pretty amazing to imagine....
10 pages a nite on 27000 postings?!!? That is just .... AMAZING. So... our little gathering with now 50 poll votes seems so humble by comparison. Oh well.... that's OK with us as things seems positively relaxed (and cozy) here by comparison.

The only thing we have really talked about doing and the person who volunteered to organize it is Capt. --who is on a cruise now...Is an ice cream mickey bar eating contest..He did this on his last cruise and it was a big hit...He has been taking names of people who want to participate...That is really it...Someone mentioned about t-shirts and the trick or treating obviously...but that is it.....we are all open to suggestions...Oh I almost forgot can not remember her name I will look it up..she is in a cat. 1 and volunteered to host soemthing there as well...so far that is it....
Kristen
And on this matter ... I THINK that I can suggest a few other things we were knocking around for our 2005 Sept sailing... so... how about a cruise meet with a theme? Like a TOGA party complete with a few kegs of lager loosen up the gathering? OK... we actually TALKED a lot about THAT concept but ... alas... we did NOT do it even though I found a web site that was selling toga costumes on clearance for only 5 bucks each. So... how about we organize try for a semi-private costume party?!? Can't we get a thing going with some creative minds contributing token ideas? OR... how about a semi-private Haunted scavenger hunt? On our last sailing we did organize one of these and it went off well. AND how about we set a plan for an organized DIS group photo? Now THAT one should be easy as we just circulate that we'll do it after the initial DIS meet OR after the 1st organized semi-private event following the DIS meet.
OK... so if I take a little more time I think I can toss up some real "interesting" group proposals. But it's getting late and I'm obviously reading backwards through the thread and quoting a few postings with replies here. OK.. back to looking backwards through the thread....

Oh yeah... it was
RonnieJo66 who suggested she would host a DIS gathering in their suite as they did on their 2005 Halloween
DCL sailing. And if this comes to pass... may I say that I saw a photo series by another family who had their concierge cater the the thing and it seemed like a nice way to have a gathering. Maybe I can dig up the link???
Adios til tomorrow.....
